Phases 1 & 2 of the ARR Beta, which mostly tested the core systems of the game, took place in only one of the five major regions we have access to and contained only a small percentage of the quests we'll have and only a few of the classes we'll have access to. The upcoming Phases 3 & 4 will be pretty much the entire game. As you can imagine, that's an enormous amount of text that needs localizing from Japanese to English - and remember, it's more than just translation - Ferne's team needs to come up with names for quests, attacks, and monsters that work in English as well as change the references, jokes, and wordplay to things English-speakers will be familiar with.
Aaaand he's got E3 to prepare for, which is going to include the first-ever English Letter from the Producer LIVE. Ferne usually catches up with us during the quieter times when new content is still in development and he's got time to quash bugs and do community outreach. His inactivity just means he's buried.
As for the Twelve, there certainly are gaps in the story, which I hope are addressed at some point - but I have a feeling that I already know what the answer will be: It's meant to be vague. These are myths and legends about beings that may or may not have existed, performing actions that may or may not have been as awesome as the stories about them claim, which may or may not have just been misunderstood magic and technology. Who was shacking up with who probably isn't any better recorded in the history books, and on top of that it's based on the Greek pantheon, which was full of anonymous mortals and incest and all sorts of goodies you probably don't elaborate on in a gamed rated [T].
Like, you, though, I'm going to hope for a [dis?]confirmation at some point and put off V2 of that there chart until then.
