So far the official word is: "FFXIV:ARR includes 30 free days of playtime with purchase for new accounts. However, even though players who own FFXIV Version 1.0 will receive FFXIV:ARR for free, this does not include the 30 free days of play."

Anything else is *cough* unofficial until they post it here or on the Lodestone.

You mean like this document, that was posted on the lodestone?

It clearly specifies a start timeframe and an end timeframe.

Only, he completely misinterpreted the document. According to his skewed interpretation, the "free trial" was a trial of 1.0, which obviously wasn't the case.

The one that says "Reinstate limited free trial period for PC version"? Well, that is outdated info, posted October 2011, but that seems like a reasonable thing for SE to offer. My point was that they haven't announced details for ARR, in 2013, yet. Publicly.

Yes, starting some time between October and November 2012. The PS3 beta was to start then, too, according to that document.

Yep, but when you make a promise to your customers that promise doesn't just disappear because the dates on the document become outdated.

There are going to be a whole lot of people pissed when they learn that the promised free trial isn't going to happen.

...except when it isn't a promise, it is a wild-eyed misinterpretation based on a document that was not only clearly labled as "subject to change", not merely a subjective estimate of some vague dates, but had also been revised several times from the version you are referencing.
