What happens when your security token expires runs out of batteries (ie my physical version). Can I switch from physical to mobile? Thanks in advance for any answers

I'm assuming that they will still keep some physical tokens available in case someone does not have a mobile device or worries that they might lose their phone and thus lose access to account. Also when your token runs out of batteries you call SE and ask them to take your token off your account. Then you can either buy a new token or use the mobile app. I recommend using the mobile app till your physical token comes if you plan to use physical copy...

Indeed. Square Enix's business practices are archaic, to the say the least. They have been disappointing for a very long time.

the smartphone app sounds all well & that but my only worry is that what happens if you change phone (due to upgrade or buying a new one) & also changing system from iOS to android or vice versa (unless the app is based to your mobile number)

i still have 2, one from ffxi and the one from the collector. Don't seems i'll use it that soon lol

I treat my token like a sacred artifact! My whole room is messy except for the spot where I keep my token. I don't see much reason for this except if I manage to get a laptop that can run both XI and XIV again, in which case I can leave the physical token at home.

I wasn't being sarcastic, I was being pedantic about your post. Using "i still have" in reference to an unreleased product with no qualifier that you were in fact referencing an existing physical token.



Nothing idiotic about it my post at all, what is idiotic is people claiming they "still have" something that doesn't exist. Whilst it would be nice of me to presume they are of course referencing the physical token, being nice isn't a requirement to post, which is likely why you thought it ok to rebute by implying I am an idiot.

Also: Windows phone. Whilst I wish you all the best in getting this app, I wouldn't hold your breath.

It's not quite idiotic, but you are being a smartass. Anyone with the right context could clearly understand she meant the physical version.
