I'm assuming that they will still keep some physical tokens available in case someone does not have a mobile device or worries that they might lose their phone and thus lose access to account. Also when your token runs out of batteries you call SE and ask them to take your token off your account. Then you can either buy a new token or use the mobile app. I recommend using the mobile app till your physical token comes if you plan to use physical copy...
