I don't think there's really need to explain the extra syllable apart from the mother's unique preference, but there's no harm in fleshing out the reason, either.I was thinking about it, but after reviewing the conventions, it looks like for moonkitties my character name was already pretty much within (stretched) bounds (3 syllables instead of 2), so chances are I'll keep the same name and make up some backstory for why there's an extra syllable.

Yeah, that was obviously the first thing to come to mind... but maybe there is more to it than that...!?

I'm going to use the guides to create one for myself, but it won't be used as my in-game name. I've grown far too fond of the backstory that Baderon was told that I'd prefer to remain anonymous, misunderstood the lalafellin accent coming form the floor of his crowded tavern, and has been introducing me as "Mr. Anony Moose" to everyone in town ever since.

The name's beautiful either way, and as it's French (at least the surname means Star) it fits well enough in the lore imo.
That's.....ADORABLE!I'm going to use the guides to create one for myself, but it won't be used as my in-game name. Heh, it is fitting that this was your 1337th post.I'm going to use the guides to create one for myself, but it won't be used as my in-game name. Also, thinking about it some more I suppose I could shorten my name a bit and it wouldn't be terrible, but I must admit I'm rather attached to the way it is now, first name especially... Eh... well, no rush to decide I guess.

Luckily cobalt ore originally had the german name Kobold ore to represent 'goblin' ore. So it fits with the germanic roots and doesn't sound too different from the original as well. The only downside is that the beastmen in the Limsa area are called Kobolds... so I would imagine Hyurs calling my character's mother a Kobold instead of a Sea Wolf, and possibly being denied residence at Limsa.
I would most likely have to change the last name completely which I don't mind, I was kind of planning to change it if possible anyways. I'll have to look up the celtic words that fit in with blue hues, or the god's wrath.

How about "Kobold Bloemoensyn" (blue-moon-son)? >:3Luckily cobalt ore originally had the german name Kobold ore to represent 'goblin' ore. I'm torn. . . . I like these naming conventions, and they fit my Hyur quite well, plus the name I chose has a very personal meaning as they're both "nicknames" of two real life men who I find fascinating for different reasons. My trouble starts with experiencing really unexpected joy while toying with a male Miqo'te character. Didn't expect I'd like them so much, but can't see my current name fitting my character, in case I do take the hormones and become a member of the feline family .___. Very attached to my name, plus friends call me Nunu which is cute and I'd feel bad for changing it. . . .
I can already see myself sitting 2 hours at least with the character creation open once we get to the point of actually changing our chars permanently >.<
Change race, or don't change race. . . . change name, or don't change name /agony
