If Able, Would You Change Your Name To Meet Racial Conventions?

If SE allows us to change the names of our 1.0 characters along with our race, how many of you will change or adapt your name to follow the lore?

After reading the naming conventions posts, it's become clear to me that the name Yru would suit a Miqo'te better. I've always wanted Yru to make sense in the lore, and here is my chance:

Yru Tia

Y = Jaguar tribe (pronounced "yah". My original name was Yaru in FFXI before I remade as Yru.)

Tia = Non-breeding Male (Tia is the bachelor name, and it's also said that very few breeding "Nunh" males become leaders. The lore also allows the option to become a Nunh if I choose, even if the game doesn't.)

Miqo'te given names don't have to be Miqo'te words, but I may change it to "Yruh", as Ruh is attributed to Raptor. Would be awesome to call myself Jaguar-Raptor. "Yruh Tia"... I like it!

I have to think about it, but I probably will, but first, I have to choose if I'm going to change races or gender!

Part of me wants to, but in learning some details about what it means with what I've already named them, I'm kind of really entertained at the idea of the conflict it'd make, lol. Makes for some good story telling.

I'm not going to alter my name for my main character, but I will have alts that I'll make an effort to use lore names for.

Btw, if you change to miqo'te I think you'd be okay leaving it as Yru and not adding the h to make it Yruh, it would just be a more modernized spelling indicating a miqo'te who's been more integrated into Eorzean culture, since the other races can't really pronounce miqo'te h's correctly anyways and just make them silent.

Noted, and this means I don't need the apostraphe either if I want a more integrated name. Would only need to change my surname. Then again, my name is difficult to pronounce either way. So many people stumble on it.

I think that's where I'm at with it. I'd prefer to keep the name I have with my main character since I've used it since FFXI, but any alts I make I'll try to come up with something that matches the naming conventions.

While it is very fun and interesting to have lore like this - I consider my Miqo'te her own Modern character, she does not follow pack nor a 'Breeding Male.' So no, I shall give her my own name and story ^_^

Interestingly enough her full name has always has a ' in it ... but naming restrictions in 1.0 meant that I could not use the name properly, therefore I threw in a replacement...one I am hoping to change come 2.0 ^_^

I was thinking about it, but after reviewing the conventions, it looks like for moonkitties my character name was already pretty much within (stretched) bounds (3 syllables instead of 2), so chances are I'll keep the same name and make up some backstory for why there's an extra syllable.

I don't think there's really need to explain the extra syllable apart from the mother's unique preference, but there's no harm in fleshing out the reason, either.
