A lotto spawn. A longer timed spawn. Anything that makes actually getting to fight the NM a nice surprise.

Defeating anything doesn't mean anything. Everyone can do it. No matter how strong something is everyone will be able to do it after someone figures it out. It doesn't make anything rare.

And how matter how "rare" a drop it is after it's killed just means the same people are going to camp it for a month rather then a week.

And why is this? Because you want everyone to have everything without trying.

Anyone could access anything XI. There was nothing ever telling anyone if you have to play 6 hours at once to do this.

It should take more than 15 minutes to even see NM. Not get the drop for yourself and everyone else in your party.

It really doesn't matter how "challenging" anything is or how easy it is to get anything. No matter what someone is going to get something before you and be better then you.

man forget about it thanks to wow this is what players think, you should see wow players there even more crazy. Even wow have rare mobs that take hours to pop and item that take hours to get i know for one took 5+hours to get a pet item the drop rate was like 15% or something so ya ffxiv is even more casual then wow.

players think a game need to be a big timesink for everyone when they could easy make bcnm fight for casual and others can have 1-4hours NM and 5-6hours HNM and they can do the bcnm version with about the same drop rate.

Yup... Exactly what they did in XI later. This is probably the best option.

I'm completely fine with an instanced version available of the same encounter (could even make it a bit more challenging) for the same item, even keeping the drop rate the same between the two, hey i'm all for it. What surprises me is Visch, who wants to be completely unique in the game, agrees with an option to allow people to get the same gear without the same "effort" it takes to stand there waiting on a pop. This option (while I highly approve) still doesn't keep that gear "rare".

It does if you have to do 100 BCNM type of battles until you can get the final item.
It is really simple to make challenge without time sinks and/or repetition(grind), or at least a grind that is a bit more enjoyable (than killing same thin over and over and over,,,)

Im all about hardcore play, im completely against ground kings HNM pop mechanics.Zillions of ways to make gear "rare"

Way to put words in my mouth, real nice tactic. I never said I want everyone to have everything without trying. I was saying that personally I'm not so emotionally needy that I can't stand to see other people wearing the "rare" stuff I have too. Having fun in the game is not about how rare your gear is, it's about how fun the game is to play. Given enough time a vast majority of the community will have an item. People who play longer should get an item faster than others, but they shouldn't be the only ones to get it.

I'm all for challenge, I know you aren't. Would you be happy if the NM had a .0000000000001% drop rate, spawned every 30 hours but died in 1 hit? Not challenging at all but the gear would be rare as hell! You could feel special in your "epic lootz"

If items aren't "rare" and everyone can get them this eliminates any aspect of effort.

Time spent waiting =/= effort. That's just dicking around doing nothing.

Challenge = effort. If it is hard to actually get, it requires effort.

Of course that's the way life is and will always go unless we all adopt the same exact lifestyle and are able to receive all the same benefits at the same time. The greatest fighters will always meet the better man/woman if he/she searches long enough. The problem isn't about who gets what first but a niche wanting to add unnecessary time sinks especially for a mid rank NM(that will probably be forgotten about once more content come out). To keep rare gear rare then add more content with other pieces of good gear that's faster for the average person to obtain. For example who's going to get a party together just to camp these mid rank NMs when they can go do a dungeon with some pick up group instead? Not many will put in that extra time for a few extra points.

That's it for me though. Need to go out with my fiance.
