Well-put. It's been said a thousand times over while Hiromichi Tanaka was in charge of the game, but did he listen? no! And you see how far THAT got him! I'm just hoping, wishing, praying that Mr. Yoshida will do the right thing and get rid of this horridly flawed system and let the players be! We want freedom to rank our classes without the hendrance of being penalized for playing in the first place! It doesn't stop players from playing their perspective classes: all it does is make them grind even HARDER on them!

Then you are truly fatigue and only way to make it reset is wait a on the day your class SP reset (Which is calculate on the day you start the class).
I am thinking that you have less responsibilities than I do. After all I have to accomplish in order to earn playtime, I don't need THE GAME ITSELF telling me not to play.

Even if the penalty was %1 the principle remians. I do not want to be told what to do during my free time.

You cannot argue on one hand how little it effects players and also argue that it is effective. Players are 50. What was gained compared to what was lost? Those 50 players are still playing.

Many potential FFXIV players are Rank 0. Simply hearing of the presence of the Fatigue Sytem was very effective at preventing them from leveling too quickly.

If they actually had the "surplus" points count towards another system for customizing your character (i.e. guild marks, etc.), then I wouldn't really mind.

But actually penalizing players for spending their free time playing their game (It is what it is.) by physically taking away any incentive to continue playing was not a really good option IMO...

Ow, and I thought I had to bad. You have my condolences. If this game jump starts into subscription fees while Fatigue is still in place, all the hard work, all the millions of yen spent, all the high-hopes will drop when the players revolt and leave FFXIV alone completely.

I see this exact situation happening. I myself am one of those ppl who will flat out quit if they expect me to pay with sysch a feature in place.

Surplus is fine. Keep it in.
10% exp cut will not stop you from leveling, and I seriously doubt any of you will ever hit the max rank of surplus.

If you do, go level another class to decrease the surplus on the job you have a lot of surplus on.
I swear, people complain about the most menial of things.

A system that punishes players for playing the game is bad. This kind of negative reinforcement is not good gameplay incentive. Switch fatigue to the rested bonus system, as it is essentially the same thing. The only difference is the negative connotation is gone, and once you hit "normal" XP gain, it won't go down any further than that. This would truly be a system that helps out casuals who don't play a lot, while leaving everyone else alone to do as they please.

For those of you who think the fatigue system is good because it encourages you to level other classes, there are better ways to incentivize that behavior other than the stupid fatigue system.

For one thing, make horizontal leveling have more of a benefit. Make the rewards for ranking up multiple classes have a larger benefit than there is now. Allow me to purchase more cross class affinity. Let each class have a quest that allows your character to have 200 more maximum TP, or 1 more accessory slot point, or something that allows you to preserve your strengths in one class and carry them over to another.

TLDR: The fatigue system as it is currently implemented is annoying to most players and should be changed to a rested bonus system.

I think my post had an overly challenging tone and I apologize. I have 4 kids, including 5-year old triplets, and I think even hardcore gamers would wonder: what the hell am I thinking trying to play an MMO?

The ideal is not to play a bit each day, but rather to take care of anyhting and everything and then plop down at 5:00pm on Sunday and play until 3:00am. By that time of the week I certainly feel like I've earned some fun time. 2~3 hours in, I hit fatigue and I don't want to switch. I am being penalized for having very little free time.

A decent compromise would be to exempt fatigue for players below a certain maximum playtime each week, independent of class.

So if I only play 10 hours this week, I can play them all on GLD with no penalty.

No matter what I think, the OP is correct. Fatigue is hurting the overall success of the game, and that just can't be denied.

You're going to be one of the few players who will still play this game down to the dust no matter what, huh? What dedication! Ignorance is bliss! ^o^
