ya it may be fun and fine in toto-rak etc, but not AV, CC or such
but would make it easier in low-pop servers, to get a party going for such stuff.
Well imagine how FATEs gonna be haha. 100 players, 100 chocobos VS Odin.

Ironically, I could very easily see this turning into a... we'll be kind for now and call it a "perfection" meter. Suddenly we can say "We did a 4-bird run of Toto-Rak". Not necessarily a bad thing, but funny how this could so easily turn into a meter stick for "custom" difficulty.

I didn't interpret the article that way, but that doesn't mean your not right. I do think it could be unbalanced to allow fishing to continue to support alch and cooking, as well as give it it's own special merit system on top of that, especially if they're some awesome rewards associated with that system. But if in fact that is the case, and you can still make good money through fishing by supporting cooking/alch, I know what gathering class I'll be focusing on solely.

This is exactly what i got from it too and its all we can really say at this point. Before people start panicking and losing their shiznet, lets wait until someone has at least had a chance to try it. I would not be surprised if there was a little lost in the translation from Japanese to english, english to an experience, an experience to an article, then an article to the reader. i dont think that the writer of the article got to try fisher even so we really have little to go on.

To address the "going the opposite direction" part, I take 1.0 as the base, look at the crafting video of the direction they are heading from 1.0 to 2.0 (which is less of a hot and cold thing, more streamlined, easier to understand, able to get consistent repeatable results.), and then they say fishing is going in the opposite direction (this to me means it will be a better mini game, keeping the hot and cold mystery aspect, keeping things random, and less predictable.).

If you receive an actual item from fishing, It will have a use in the game, bottom line. The only way they could make fishing as useless as you seem to fear would be to remove the actual catching of a fish and putting it in your inventory. With nothing in the inventory then it truly would be just a hobby.

If it is this, I give you a kissy :P

As for when they said it would be just a hobby I figured it would be like most of the fish you can catch which are worth 5 gil anywhere. They really are useless and you just toss em out. You've got to have the right lure or you will be wasting a lot of your time fishing (in 1.0). Of course it could mean your way that the game is really fun so it becomes a hobby that way, you do it just to play it sometimes - even though the fish can be useful.

Certainly we should wait more before we petition Yoshida lol (figured 1.0 forums we can talk about w.e we want though so :P, srry for the short derail - talk about chocobos man lol) - anyway just would not be happy to see a class be relegated to no class.

i think just having chocos in the dungeon will make things more difficult than an actual team of live people. AI is only so good. Especially for the higher level dungeons. Although it could be a fun challange, Do the Great Labyrinth of Bahamut with half chocos! Achievement unlocked!

Some of the boss tactics will be so painful with AI lol - DONT ATTACK THAT TAR... aww dammit boco. -50 DKP!!!! In the corner, IN THE CORNER.

Yeah I think doing a dungeon with chocobos would be much harder then with players - but the possibility of doing it is great, so you can go duo with your buddy or if no one else is available. I'm curious how you can get your chocobo to tank properly. . I wonder how powerful the AI will be. That and class stacking for chocobos?

Maybe you will be like 3 WAR/PLD with your 2 WHM chocobos and 1 BLM chocobo

    Missed this

Veteran players needn't worry, however, as the designers are trying to ensure that every class needs to be raised to only about 30 for you to have all the important abilities for cross-class skills.
    THANK GOD

eeewww.... I'm actually a dude.... lol. Anyway, I just dont see them putting an item into a game as a straight up throw away item, they usualy have some purpose, however small. you might be able to cook the 5g fish with some garlic and moko grass and make it a 10g broiled fish that you can sell or eat for a small strength bonus. Later on you can use the smaller fish as bait for your boat trips to catch the larger fish. I just cant see putting a fish in your inventory just to sell it for the lowest price possible and thats it, thats why i brought up the fear of removing the actual catching of a fish.

I just hope you can still catch monsters.
