    They exist, mostly because some email providers has a nasty habit of blocking websites from sending emails to prevent spam altogether. Normally you'd find Hotmail/Live and Gmail blocked from signups if at all.

    Yeah i've seen one or two places that wouldn't allow Hotmail/Yahoo/GMail and the like. I've honestly forgotten the reason, but I think it had something to do with some sort of verification.
