    That image isn't even really applicable for this debate. You're comparing a video screenshot that requires better hardware to render in real time than you could ever afford, versus the graphics in the game that are generated from textures. They are two completely different techniques. You can't just say we'll use this FMV grass for ARR. They're completely different assets.

    Yea, I guess they could make the grass look better. Honestly though, grass is the last thing I care about. If you really are that worried about Grass, maybe you should play a game like Flower.... I understand that you are just wanting a greater visual experience for everyone, but if you're walking around staring at the grass all day, I'm not sure this is the right game for you... That's just my opinion though. I'm not saying I wouldn't enjoy it, but the amount of time I'd enjoy it is probably about 20 minutes out of the 525949 minutes in a year. I don't know about you, but I don't exactly watch the ground while I'm running around doing stuff or crafting in one position. I'll only see the ground as a peripheral view, so I won't see the jagged edges.

    Besides, after FFXI for over 5 years, jagged grass is the least of my worries. In fact, it isn't one.

    Linkurrra, and I both said it was a rendered piece. Obviously games dont look like a prerendered piece, so I'm not sure who you are trying to address with that first paragraph. (Edit: I've made it even clearer now)

    I look at the environment 24/7 and at least every 10 minutes of an hour while being around grass in FFXIV I was like "that is really bad grass"..

    So I guess yeah we are different that way, and lol to FFXI reference.

    If I recall I liked sarutabaruta's grass more then FFXIV's. Though FFXI used much less of it - and it ate taru taru's whole. I'm thinking of that place next to the tree you find the moon tear? or stone.. its been a while. I remember there being much smaller grass too but.. meh its been a while.

    Uhm so what are you looking at when doing random stuff? miq ears/ass?
    There's really no reason not to look at the environment, when running from one place to another.
    And obviously the reason you're not looking at the grass, is cause it's ugly if it was beautiful, you'd also look at i more often; So why are you complaining about something that would make the game look better?
    And i can turn your argument against you and say, if you like crafting, maybe games isn't for you, maybe you should become a designer in real life instead?

    I don't really think people are "complaining" about devs "adding better grass textures". They are laughing at the people that are indeed, complaining about poor grass when it is perfectly fine, along with other aspects that could better utilise the resources that "improving the grass" would consume.

    I think those who look at the environment are fewer then I expected but thanks for joining the club of people not -always- staring at miqo ass

    and Altena, first there is a huge difference between 1.0 and 2.0 - and Yoshida and his team should be applauded for that indeed. But just because there is a difference doesn't mean you cant look forward further. There is NO such thing as "oh well we improved once, we used our one time token - no more improvements guys".

    Speaking of that 2.0 runs smoother then 1.0 at a better quality*, so they have more room to be crazy as well - and it is in their best interest to future proof this game not only for grass but for all elements (grass just happens to catch my attention right now as every time I swivel the camera and I see speckling and shimmering from all the pixelated grass on screen).

    *(for the most part, some textures seems to be lowered but I dont see why they cant bring it back in an hyper setting)

    Of course you cant expect them to do that all at release, and I dont - I've said that many times. All I want to know is if it is in their plan to update things as they go a long. Like add a higher res model of grass that is smoother, and if they dont have one lying around because the went straight to that res (very unlikely) then add a post process filter just for grass. For that I have hope because we have a DX10/11 patch coming out titled "graphical milestone" - I'm just trying to push a graphic boost on grass in that patch as well.

    Also there is no rule I have to compare FFXIV to FFXIV (that is nonsensical, no one could compare anything to but itself - which means most comparisons would become false, which they are not). If I want to example awkwardly shaped physics breast I'll obviously not pick FFXIV to do it, even if I wanted it in FFXIV - I'd pick some korean mmo.. lol (I dont want this, just an example). As an aside to that though there will be a tiny bit of physics to female chests in 2.0 :P
