I find the very idea of my gather items competing with what NPCs do in the marketplace distasteful. NPCs should be that. NON-playing characters.
It's making botting legal.

Reinheart I would like you to communicate this message on the JP forums. I know it's kinda obnoxious for me to ask this. But I feel very strongly about it.

I was going to post my own idea about having my own store like Dragon Quest 4 Torneko (sp?) characters store so I added your concern on the post as well. So far no one else brought up your issue, just one after rep post saying it would be nice for retainer to gather shards since it looks like in ARR we'll need much more. But that's it for now, no other posts about this specific one.

See, I quite like this... it'd be nice to not worry about shards ("crafting currency") as much. Hopefully they'll be the only things that retainers can harvest.
Thank you so much Reinheart. Really.
The only way I could tolerate any gathering by NPCs is if what they find is Rare/Ex. NOCs should never be allowed any participation in the marketplace under any circumstances.
They should not be spidering seach results for deals. They should not be crafting.

I agree with this...it's basically having sanctioned botting...except it's built into the game. Give RMT long enough to level hundreds of "Retainer farming" accounts and soon enough you'll have a flooded market with hugely inflated prices.
I have within me the blood of legends!
