The most social parties you can have are with console players cuz they can't surf the net and half afkIt could be a little hit or miss, with some people half AFK'ing and watching TV, Netflix, web surfing or what have you.
But through doing behests with random members, I also met people who remained friends until the very end.
Sometimes it just takes a little time, like running into the same person a few times before the door to friendship creaks open.
Sadly (and not saying anyone here does this), some people I met had the idea that being "social" meant cracking cynical jokes, vocalizing their opinion in party chat on how the game was so bad, or shouting at people for making what they perceived as mistakes. Who wants to be around a downer?![]()
This could certainly work. As long as the resource can be counted on for research quests, it certainly has potential, IMOWell unlike TSW, there won't be much relating to real life events in FFXIV ARR so you won't really need the internet. You won't have to research who composed a real song, or who drew a certain painting, or investigate some website developed by SE(or Funcom is TSW case). These can be just missions with no real direction given on the map just a clue of what to do in game. Researching old city newspapers, talking to NPCs in an area and asking if they saw anything, getting small pieces to a puzzle and trying to put everything together.
Of course I bet majority of the people would just look it up online but for some of us it would be a lot of fun!
* The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.
* Design ideas:

Since this is about bashing Tera,
I found a neat features in TERA, the in-game Guild Browsers.. kind of awesome in a way lol...
It a neat features for vanarch system and has praise / apply to guild easily. (can be turn off ofcourse) Feels like this feature can be expanded more hmmm even into website.
Guess who the biggest proponent of this mindset is? Yoshida has stated he wants people to get the the cap fairly quickly, and openly includes powerleveling as a way to do this. He has publicly marginalized the leveling process. One of the biggest problems seems to be that many people believe "all the good stuff happens at endgame".
They are so focused on getting to level cap as quickly as possible, that everything up to that point becomes the "grind". They see the process of leveling up as just preventing them from having their fun sooner.
Personally I think starting off with no true endgame would be a good idea, if you were to have a wealth of fun things to do that branch off from the leveling process. Players, if this was communicated to them, wouldn't have quite the same burning need to blow through everything as fast as possible.
Then, 2-3 months later as players are becoming itchy, introduce endgame platform(s). However, not only does that not seem to be the case with ARR valuing low and mid-level content, but they also have a unique problem with so many people starting at level 50.
Uhh... Terra has pretty much died.
ARR needs less WoW/TERA quest spam and more this:

You mean a seamless world, action combat system, mount combat and mass PvP sieges? Nothing of it is going to happen in ARR. Well, maybe the sieges.
But we already lost the seamless world, there is no chance for an action combat system since it's "not FF-like" and the game isn't concentrating on PvP. ARR is a different type of game, and I don't see what you wanted to say by posting this trailer.
Don't get me wrong, I'm interested in black desert myself. But the topic of this forum is about questing-only getting dull - and we don't know ANYTHING about how leveling will be in black desert. A comparison is not really possible.

Probably because making grind parties as efficient just opens the door to power-leveling. I'd rather see content-based leveling where people actually have to put in effort and play their character to progress, not just stand in one spot and have others do the work for you.

I'd rather have a potential PL'ing issue (as most MMOs have..) than a solo and boring leveling experience like all of the other failing MMOs.Probably because making grind parties as efficient just opens the door to power-leveling. I'd rather see content-based leveling where people actually have to put in effort and play their character to progress, not just stand in one spot and have others do the work for you.

Besides, I'm sure ppl will still PL if they wanted too.. as a matter of fact, if you really don't like quest leveling and SE continues to nerf the exp gains from party grinds, more ppl will just find ways to get PL'd to avoid the snooze from the 'quest leveling'. You can't force ppl to play the game a way they don't want too. Either they find another way that gets them what they want (Low EXP gains from pt grind = alot of AFK turn based PLing..), or they leave and go find another game to give their money too, period. This same issue will creep up even when those that like or don't mind quest leveling run outta quests.. This is why SE needs to provide both forms equally.

Easy, repetitive, and solo-friendly exp. quests will surely help that. Yep.Probably because making grind parties as efficient just opens the door to power-leveling. I'd rather see content-based leveling where people actually have to put in effort and play their character to progress, not just stand in one spot and have others do the work for you.
