It's easy to discredit ideas. Harder to come up with them..
That was only one of a broad spectrum of ideas. To sum all of them up with a rubber band is overly simplistic.
Can you rubber band mounted attacks and digging on a chocobo? No...Obviously not..
It was only with regard to moving the mount. Sorry if I wasn't clear... and I did give me idea earlier... please everyone don't just skim through the topic! >.<

Lol u skimmed through my one post and you're asking people not to skim the topic?
Too funny. Seriously, I am not trying to be mean. That is just funny.
I do it all the time..
We are all guilty of skimming at some point or another. XD
Fair enough.
Anima? depends on how much you regenerate, but you cant spam warps foreverGive players an incentive to not use Aethertye points, perhaps allow you to customise your chocobo stats depending on how much you use it to travel round the land..Allow unlocks for distance travelled that will give you say an alternative armour skin or something..just an idea.
if you need an incentive to NOT warp...why even have it? from what i've seen it's not really much needed in ARR either way (since maps aren't so big)
except for the fact you needed to adventure to get there in the first place? why adventure every time you need to go there? As far as i know there's no aether nodes, so you can just tele to aether camps. so then the rest of the map is adventure time.I just want to make it clear im asking for one area (maybe like 3 - 5 zones) without insta teleport. Not the entire game. The problem with insta-teleport is that it makes every area feel easy to get to. For example, Mor Dhona was supposed to feel like this desolate area far away from any of the cities, but it just felt like another area.
I want at least a few areas that -actually- feel like they are "out of the way" or "distanced" from a city. Making it hard to get to or annoying to reach is -the point-. So that when people actually go there or get there it feels like they went on an adventure to get there, instead of clicking a button. And so that it never feels like "yeah i can just click a button to get there"
I don't want the entire game to be like that. Just one part.
From what i've seen of Alpha stuff, Central Shroud only has 1 node, dont know if there's any reason for more in any area...Depends on size and placement i suppose. maybe 1 in opposing corners of the map. But i dont think any map is gonna be as big as they were in 1.0. and aether camps wern't even very common there.
I think he meant for each region (although its an easy point to be confused on so maybe I'm wrong). From what i've seen of Alpha stuff, Central Shroud only has 1 node, dont know if there's any reason for more in any area...Depends on size and placement i suppose. maybe 1 in opposing corners of the map. So all of Black Shroud minus the city you only have one aether.
(North, south, east, west shroud - only 1 aether total (which would be like the craigs in FFXI minus the fact that everyone can teleport instead of just white mages))
Except in XI you could warp to any region.I think he meant for each region (although its an easy point to be confused on so maybe I'm wrong).

Its nice to explore new areas and such... but when youre playing everyday, and making the same 10 min trek for the 100th time, ppl will want to just be able to GET there.
Not enough Facepalms
We ran circuit chocobo races there before they threw in the Imperial Stronghold. It was fun.Mor Dhona felt like 'just another area'?!
FELT LIKE JUST ANOTHER AREA?!
The many fruitless attempts at getting to that god-forsaken zone I made would like to really, really, REALLY disagree with you. For one i'm really, really happy I could just use my anima to get there afterwards because to hell with walking there ever again
After that we had to move to the tunnels under Horizon.
On topic though, even with the teleportation system, the game will be fine. Everyone has to do at least some exploring to get the teleport points, and those who want to explore more are free to. Those who don't want to are not going to lose any game enjoyment from not having to do something they're uninterested in doing. Even in 1.0 there were a ton of nooks and crannys that most people never discovered, and I'm sure there will be plenty of cool hidden gems for those interested in 2.0. To the average player though, never seeing the mysteriously glowing tree in the corner of the forest probably won't impact their game.
