You're missing the point, essentially, if my pc can run ffxiv just fine and dandy, its no different than xi. my pc is just the new toaster, for the new bread.
xi was made for dial up that only a few houses had. With our new fancy super speedy connections that all but the poorest of household has the information has to flow smoother om xi. But xiv has x200 the info to flow coupled with poorly designed servers. Thats what makes me think caused the lag, but im not a puter guy so im prob mistaken
How about
1st transfer was either free or quite cheap and would allow you to transfer again as soon as you wanted (or maybe after a month or something.)
2nd transfer was more expensive and would allow you to transfer again in 3 months
3rd transfer was again more expensive and would make you to wait 6 months to transfer again
4th transfer again more expensive and would make you wait for a year to transfer again!
In my opinnion world transfer should be done only if you for example wanted to play with friends who are on other servers, therefore you wouldn't have to keep jumping from one server to another. 4 jumps in the whole lifetime of ffxiv should be enough. (Or you could jump more but you would have to wait for a long time until you could do it again).
I also feel that one jump should be allowed without much restrictions as many of us has made the stupid mistake of following a friend to a dead server and realizing the mistake 2 days later.
There is a little Monkey in all of us....
Should be free for 1 transfer a year, more transfers than 1 within a year should cost 19.99$.
Honestly that's not a bad idea. Gives people a chance to migrate if their servers become too quiet and penalizes them (by charging) for moving too much so no one in their right mind would abuse it.
@ people who disagree - It takes less than a minute to post /why/ you don't like some, so instead of typing in crap like 'NOPE NOPE NOPE' feel free to add something constructive to the conversation. If you dislike something, surely you have a reason why, please share it!![]()

Yep i'm sure they going to make 5-10 world for each area so few of them could be set only to allow starting char and the other allow anyone to enter so i don't see a reason to lock us all in a JP world to they think we could move out that just dumb it would take month again for the price and everything to set in the best time to do it would be day 1 of ffxiv which is what they doing anything else is dumb.I believe you are right Zenaku. The way I read it too is that at launch we can switch to an server that existed in 1.0 and any of the new servers that they will be bringing online are off limits to us for awhile unless we want to reroll on that server. Frankly thats fine, we already know the starter zones of the pre-existing servers are going to be over run with arcanists with carbuncles and whatever other job they wanna give us. Now add all the rest into there. Been there done that lol. 300 ppl going after 100 mobs is not fun when 290 of them are soloing.
Since they are going regional there would be no reason to lock us onto our old servers. I know being in the NA region I would not want to be stuck on a JP server if the lag was going to be an issue like it was in 1.0 and vice versa Im sure for JP who get stuck on NA servers. So allowing us to move but restricting where we can go was a good move by SE

i think what he meant by that that you can't transfer to any of the new world that are made for starting char. Also he said we could switch to a NA,EU,JP world so i think that would happen start of 2.0 it just be dumb that we have to wait to switch to a NA world when there no issue in making one for old players.I'm trying to say the same thing. I think likely all of the Worlds that were of the data center in Japan for 1.0 are not all going to still be in Japan for 2.0, so thats why it would matter if we can freely transfer between those at the start. That is the only way it is going to make any sense at the start of ARR with transfers to different regional server that isn't a brand new server. Excalibur characters might be moved onto a EU regional Data Center while Rydil Characters stay at the JP Regional Data Center and Durandal Characters get moved to an NA Regional Data Center, etc etc.I believe you are right Zenaku. I'm happy on Sargatanas. Having a free server transfer on my account might be a great feel good feature but this game was never population-centric and the whole *insert quest name* Level 40 Do you need it, Can I have it Thing kind of became a FF14 signature. We might not both speak the same language but we adapted.
