Western MMO player eh?
No, your idea is bad, that would ruin the game and make the world feel small and boring.
I hope they remove anima if they are going to add chocobos and airships, or else traveling is too fast/easy :/
I totally agree with you.
Not knowing how or where they will implement raids and dungeons though, I would like to remove Teleportation when they implement chocobos - which should be obtainable earliest at r35 in my opinion (the others camps are rather fast to run to), and airships - which would require a quest/series of quest to unlock.
One additional asset could be to grant mages the possibility to teleport a party to one of the three major cities, so that the entire party could get teleported back to a main city - which also shoud be first at rank 35-40, so that dedicated mages would have it, and not everyone.
An alternative to this, would be to have an airship ramp outside the instanced areas. This would ensure that players didn't have to/want to leave earlier so that they could make it back to town before loggin/going afk for the night.

I don't know what you mean by western MMO, but I tend to dislike the so-called Korean grind-fests, yeah.
The world *is* small and boring right now. Hiding that behind slow and cumbersome transportation is only a cheap solution. SE has enough money to apply the real solution: get to work and create real zones, of decent sizes and varieties. No, your idea is bad, that would ruin the game and make the world feel small and boring.
But I admit once you played Vanguard everything feels small. Yet FF14 doesn't even feel small, it seems utterly tiny at the moment.
I want them to concentrate on that: building a large world, filled with content, instead of engineering tricks to make the ridiculous amount of existing content longer to complete.
Please not I have nothing against a pokemon-like chocobo raising mini-game in the game. As long as it's not mandatory and done after the transportation/world size/content problems are solved.
