    Request for a HARDCORE server!

SE, you chose the casual route and the game bombed hard. yet, you still insist on following this route in your attempts to "fix" the MMO.

i am finished with arguing over the internet of how ffxi did it all right and how ffxiv did it all wrong. my last gash would be simple, to request for at least one server that has ffxi elements.

    while awaiting for the "fixes" i think it would be relatively harmless and beneficiary, in both the data gathering, and player population levels, to offer the community a hardcore server they can select to play in with the following features;

1] 10% xp loss upon death including down-leveling.

2] removal of teleportation and anima system completely.

3] re-insert the player population count under the search option again.

4] ability to bind to only a single home point (crystal).

5] reduce NM's pop times to once every 2 hours.

6] all items (including NM & mob drops) tradable / sellable besides starter gear like underwear, starter weapon, etc.

7] removal of automated party buffs.

edit; need to add, 8] to prevent "easy" money and "easy" loot from being smuggled accross the easy servers to the hardcore ones, character transfers will not be allowed unless you to strip your character of all assets & gil if deciding to join the hardcore server.

these simple settings will eliminate zergfests, bloodporting, and promote economic growth. these settings will also create a sense of adventure that includes a risk vs. reward system and envelop a world with real danger and a sense of accomplishment.

if you support this hardcore server help this thread grow. if you appose it then do not post in here and especially attempt at starting arguments, there are plenty of other threads for that.

in anticipation (and hopes) of other ffxi elements being introduced in future patches like the battle, job, and travel system, i think it's a good idea to allow ffxi refugees to have a world in which they can thrive in and have fun.

No. Wasting development resources (in a game that needs a LOT of them) to create and mantain a whole server for a small niche in a forum is an extremely bad idea.

Different rulesets mean different code, which mean having to prepare and test each patch *twice*, slowing down the whole patching process and evolution of the game for *everyone*

Sorry, but the few self-elected hardcore forum warriors aren't worth it.

Glad to see, though, that some people really can't resist the temptation to open just another thread on the same topic.

I said not to post if you disagree. What is wrong with you all? Its not like it will affect any of you or that it slows down development. Its just a few simple changes. Will probably take a programmer one day to code.

Unfortunately for you, you can't dictate who posts in a thread or not. Sorry about that. People in a forum will disagree with what you say, and they have full rights to express it, no matter how much you dislike it or how much you're trying to artificially convince the devs that everyone likes your idea (not that they'd fall for it, considering that it's entirely unrealistic to even consider it).

Also, your oversimplified idea of game development doesn't help. When you create a different ruleset you need different code, no matter how simple the change, you still change the conditions in which the rules need to operate, and this means that every patch needs to be adapted to the new ruleset and need to be TESTED in it. Which will undoubtly slow down development and patching for everyone.

Your idea of "middle ground" is removing or drastically reducing accessibility of content to people that don't belong to your niche. That's not real middle ground. It's having a developer develop content only for the sake of a small niche.
Developing content accessible to everyone is the middle ground (and the only option considering the state of the game content-wise). Unfortunately some can't seem to be able to adapt to it.
