Massive influx of spam post beta application

I got like 20 of these in my junk mail, along with diablos 3 ones which are almost identical, and SWToR which I did not play past beta.

Typical scam email, I do not know of 1 game company that would send out a letter saying you violated ToS, they all ban and sometime ask questions later.

if you hover over the link you will see something like this as the url not what is posted: so the text playonline.com become what is below if you look carefully.

accountmanagement/playonline.IAMGONASTEALYOURACCOUNT.FR. com <= this is obviously not a real link.

Only thing you can do is delete them. I get 3-4 a day for random different games.

Do many of you register on other game forums?

I sometimes get these emails on an account that I have used to register on some other FFXIV related sites... often for games I have never even played.

I kind of doubt that it has anything to do with the real beta application or SE getting hacked. More likely, scammers are aware of the beta launch and building interest around ARR, and are trying to take advantage of it.

Maybe it has something to do with Facebook or other social network where you joined the community of FFXIV?? Are you sure that your e-mail is private? Using same email to other MMO sites would be a problem. That's why I have several different emails. One for bills, one for FB, and one for gaming.

No way 1/2 the forumers got the same email, if the only real connection between us is that SE has our email

I doubt SE got hacked. These emails are worded almost exactly the same as blizzard emails. It's the same scammers spraying emails they already have.

If you, or any of our customers, are ever in doubt about the safety of a site, hover over the URL Links and the true address should appear at the bottom of your screen; some people may have their systems set up differently so the information may be listed elsewhere.

If any of our customers have visited the site, please take the precautionary means and run a thorough virus/malware scan and then take the steps to securely change your passwords.
