Ah, but will facing north-by-northeast at 2:45 a.m. while the moon is a waning crescent result in a 27% increase in your chances to synthesize HQ mythril ingots!? That is real the question! ~Fernehalwes~
"If you wish to not have your stuff banned"
The way they phrase that part is identical to ones I've gotten for WoW; however, I've yet to receive one for FFXI. I do give them kudos for putting the official url which goes to the proper site if you copy/paste it into your browser, otherwise it's actually HTML <a href>'d to a different URL designed for phishing.
"Ul'dah can keep their dusty markets, and their streets paved in silver and gold.
Limsa Lominsa keep your pirates, and your ships covered in musty mold.
My loyalty lies with Gridania, with the Moogles and the tree spirits of old." -The Forky Conjurer
look to me like RMT is getting ready to find legacy accounts to steal so they can sell them for beta.
i got it too
It is so obvious that these are fake, they are spamed at you for a start, they are all from different people and finally not one of them addresses you as you by handle or name.
then if all else fails go on the nat and go to the site you registered for FF and go to your account then you will see if there is any changes, DO NOT go to any of the links if an email that requires you to log into your account when you have had the account for longer than 30 seconds and you know it's a verify email.
SE like any other MMO provider will tell you to go to their website and log in there, not via a email link normally.
I reported it over on the FFXI forums. I haven't recieved any more emails since that time, I got like 24 of them all from yahoo. SE made an change to the SE account so you can use your email to login to it, I believe that is why these emails started getting sent.
Interestingly my friend who also has a FF XI/XIV account has not had any emails like this and I have. The only difference is that I applied for the XIV beta recently and he did not. Perhaps someone has somehow stolen personal information from the beta application website.
Sounds like an SE employee responded to spam, and got their account pirated.
And GAL spam later, y'all are getting this fun & exciting email later.
Oh and I'd like to suggest that you change your passwords. You probably won't get hacked, but its a good idea to do that when something like this happens.
