Well, you know, Cid is a Garlean by birth who's defected to Eorzea and who is providing a lot of the Garlean technological secrets to the Eorzean cities, so it's entirely feasible he's the one who'll provide the player magitek armour eventually instead.

But having to beat up Imperial troops to steal their magitek armour for use as your mount also sounds very appealing actually (as long as it's not too difficult) - possible quest perhaps?

I thought Cid is responsible for building airships and if it is what you were talking about then it would be his first time building non-airship stuff in the Final Fantasy history.

Stealing their magitek would be awesome like how you can do in FF6. :P

make it a boss fight, targeting and defeating the pilot called Wedge nets you a nostalgic character return opener+ a magitek.

targeting the Magitek and defeating it instead of wedge gives you another nostalgic character return in the form of a CS where Biggs chews Wedge out for allowing a prototype Magitek to be destoyed.
