Personally I welcome removal of anima to teleport. People will still explore the world because they want to not because they are forced to. Plus there's going to be a lot of content that brings people different places.

The beauty of teleport is it allows you to skip that road you would have to take over, and over, and over, and over again.

Not sure what to think...hm. I would like to know what will be the price now to teleport places, if any? I don't care for the idea of gil. Should be something else...something more innovative :O

Why will mounts be next to useless, are you gonna walk from the ath to your final location?

The only people who benefited from anima were the people who sold Hamlet items. When a bunch of aetherytes went free, the world did not suffer....

How much people will or won't be walking depends entirely on the distribution of the aetherytes and *gasp* how much there is to do in any given location.

    Imagine, a world that's not 90% empty....

I want to see how this will play out becasue there may be more to it then just willy nilly teleporting.

For the natural transportation I would have loved to see it be in actual use, sad its been relegated to quest/combat only - I know some people die a little inside and get ready to scream "THIS IS NOT FFXI" but if you ever played it long enough those boat and air ferry rides became a great opportunity to just relax and fall into the world.

You can still include them but they will not be the same when in your head you know you are picking the worst transportation method lol ".. boat 5 mins. teleport.. 2 seconds.." (That and the time for traveling helps fight the "small world" feeling).
I think most FFXI players secretly wanted to be able to teleport anywhere (I know I did). Nice at first to explore, but if you are going off routine, in the long run you just want to just port there.

I do like this, it does give people incentive to explore everywhere in this game to get all the telepoints. I assume the teleports will be camps and cities like 1.xx, so you will still have to travel to your destination to an extent.

Remember that huuuuuge thread about someone wanting anima to be abolished? (Wasn't it Rokien's?) Yep, that's most likely one thing that affected the result.

*Ahem* You are free to compare my and Rein's translation, but there is nothing left out nor mistranslated. We'll just have to wait till beta and see what exactly he meant.

I myself didn't mind anima. Some people were saying the casual players didn't want to have anima, but the casuals (= people who don't play as often) are not bothered by anima at all, since it regens. It's the hardcore who spammed content ASAP who had troubles managing their anima. To me it just seems the definition of "casual" changed to mean "lazy"...

Anyway. I don't really like this development, coupled with content finder this will definitely end up making the world feel even more disjointed. I don't want to take half an hour to reach my destination either, but at least with anima you had the choice of porting (fast, limited use), taking airship (middle, gil) or run on your choco (slow, free). With free teleports (as it seems to be now) you will just end up getting all the teleport points and forget about airships/ferries once you completed the content. Mounts will have limited use to carry you from the node to the cave, but it will be far less than previously if you keep content finder in mind.

Very select teleport spells could work with a lot of support from natural transportations. Though I think the teleport spells shouldn't be class specific - could interestingly introduce class specific -unlocks- that once unlocked you can use on whatever class. That could be fun, specially if every class got something like that. (class or job).

For example dragoon could get a special jump talent you could lock into any class that literally increases your jump abilities (height distance speed). Passive/active globabl class slots available from particular class unlocks.

One of the things I find funny is that in WoW you had a large world with transportation like flight network that took time, as well as only mage teleports / hearth stone. Its funny because when I think about it, I think they made me take in the world (explore, size, and lack of hub) more then 1.0 FFXIV, and then 2.0 is going to be even less then 1.0.. XD

Only brought funnier because 2.0 enviroments are so amazing compared to 1.0 and while I wouldn't call all of WoW's zones ugly (because I admit some are pretty cool) Gridania in 2.0 is >>>>> WoW's zones lol

    ----

Also think about the airships (children.. ). Making your own airship, or boat if teleporting is WAY better, point? (possible future content - Yoshida mentioned, also there are some old 1.0 alpha videos of making boats) And yes you can say to make your boat to get to the island the first time, but after that... boat useless.

Quite a let down that would be. Also I want to see chocobo colors mean something like in past FF (flying, sea, shore, mountain, ect ect).
Still the same thread from what i seen of the 21933987 threads like this one most ppl on these forums are split 50/50 about wanting anima or not wanting it. There are plenty of threads saying keep anima the way it is or remove it.

I didnt mean to say you 'did' just that its possible, but I doubt you did ^_^. I most likely think either Yoshida is going to explain it more or it is exactly as he said the first time, like GW2 minus the money to teleport.

I agree its not about "exploring it once" as some people seem to think the push aganist super teleporting is.

Its you begin to squish the map smaller and smaller until you are at a hub and dungeons, hub and dungeons. While its true entire games are based off of this, we - or at least I - dont want to play that type of game. I want to play a w o r l d of content.

The world is a level of the game that will (with such loose teleport systems) slowly get wiped away from gameplay.

Like peeling off an onion layer but not being able to put the onion skin back on.

You are an amazing counter. :P

Personally hoping for many many natural modes of transportation that have ride times (and you can actually experience the ride). But I'm not looking for 45 min FFXI travel time, just more then 2 seconds like teleport systems create). I think somewhere around >15-30 for really far distances (shorter obviously for things closer).

I am worried that like games previously where these systems shrink the game. Certainty you can go yourself to "experience that first walk again" but the feeling will not be the same. In a very generalized who vs who its hub vs world. I'm for world, particularly so because I believe world ideology will go much farther in making FFXIV an mmoRPG.
