You almost make it sound like WOW doesn't have anything else in it besides quest grinds. I wonder if people like you even played the damn game for more than 10 minutes.and thats why FFXIV:ARR will end up like every MMO's who follow The WoW like. It will end F2P or dead after, hmm let's say, 1 year max.
Seriously, I've been playing SW:TOR, who is exactly the way ARR is going to be( WoW like). since it turn F2P and i have nothing else to do now that FF is closed. And here is my conclusion: after a few week, im simply getting BORED playing this style of MMO! It's just to easy. Questing over and over. This thing just never end! Easy Reward after each Quest. Every stuff have no Value.
Why do i play FFXI in first place? Because it wasnt like WoW. I like the character Grinding, Exp Party, Events, Farming, End-game, NM camp(even if i got frustrated many time ^^) I enjoy the fact that everything was takin time. In the end you always end-up very proud to achieve you'r Goal after all the efforts you place.
Now my dear Friends, ARR is going in the easy path of every casual MMO that are WoW like. Im telling you right here, right now, SE better have to put a lot of nice content to the games, unless why would pepeol play for a copy-paste of every F2P games already on the web?

Nope they have not. So sick of people thinking that's getting blind folded and being spin around 10 times when you do quest makes it fun.
I still remember some dumb quest in XI that sent me to Cedeave(spelling) mire to find a ??? they never said which direction or even which one of the 12 zones/exits the mire has, i got the quest in The main city of ToUA but the ??? was in some retarded place filled with soulflayers.
People need to stop thinking that the hard part of the quest should be finding the location the only hard part should be the objective of the quest. I also find it funny that some people complain about hand holding was the ones who was complain about how hard the lvl 1-20 guildleves were at one point.

And if the objective IS to find the location, what then?Nope they have not. So sick of people thinking that's getting blind folded and being spin around 10 times when you do quest makes it fun.

This makes me think of those few story and job quests that had us use map to locate the place get there and not find where we were supposed to go because it was above or below ground. It makes me giggle how often I would hear people WTF'ing those quests and asking why.
Man that Caedevra Mire.. I died.. SOOOOOOO many times trying to navigate there.

Ah, but will facing north-by-northeast at 2:45 a.m. while the moon is a waning crescent result in a 27% increase in your chances to synthesize HQ mythril ingots!? That is real the question! ~Fernehalwes~

If you want someone to find something for you, you don't say go look in the Atlantic ocean you give them a general location.
They could have said anything like The the south mire of of X town/ X portal cause it was so many zones for that place. Don't pretend like being completely blind is fun.

Don't pretend exploration isn't fun either. More to the point, it keeps people playing longer, an interest for the MMO developer. If you want someone to find something for you, you don't say go look in the Atlantic ocean you give them a general location.

Nothing wrong with exploring no one here is arguing for hand holding, no one does not want to be blind folded tho. There are plenty of games out there that can show you the general location and still make it tough to find, stop acting like its noway to do both.
Firon is completely right. If there people are "blindfolded" they will just look up the answer/location on the internet, so the blindfold approach is a waste of time, there needs to be a balance.

I've never needed a quest to get me to explore anything. Didnt think it was a requirement. I loved the thrill of trying to get to that thing way off in the distance and running scared throughout the zone cause i was way underleveled. I've done that in every MMO i played, Except 1.0 cause there really wasnt much of interest to discover.
I think what he is referring to is the way the quests were done in FFXI with very little detail and direction. I had that frustration too. Especially if i took a quest and forgot i had it. later i would check my quest log and think i want to complete it but the quest title and log were no help at all in trying to complete it. best bet would be google.
as long as they are smart about how the quest markers are done depending on the type of quest in ARR i dont foresee a big problem. A solution might be to have a "quest helper" toggle in the config menu, That would probably keep both parties happy.
Ok change WoW for SW:TOR (who is eactly a copy-paste of WoW) and yes i have been playing it for more then 10 minutes( have only play WoW for 1 week tho). All i have heard about ARR its simply the same thing as SW, and if theres not enough ORIGINAL content, this game is going to be fail for me. You might have enjoy this kinda Casual MMO, i dont. And when i look at all the Fail MMO in the last 3-4years, ARR might end-up the same way. I trully hope not because im huge fan of FF, but i dont like this way of playing MMO so it wont bothering me to stop playing ARR(maybe i'll be sad a bit but still) and wait for something that look like EQ or FFXI.
