I say the easiest way is make like HNM type monsters.. Hardcore with decent drop rates and then do like they did in 11 with mini dungeon type things where you can obtain the same gear but it has a lower chance of getting it. But I'd like if they made it to where you could solo or duo those things. (the dungeons not the NMs)

With chain of events , similar to relics, salvage , nyzul , znms etc etc etc.
I doubt a " casual" (i hate to use this terms) can do a relic by example, in a short time. While the others who play more can get there and show off.If casuals still complain the game is unfair becouse they cant have the ultimate mega duper equipement only a hand full of people can get per server, then they are just being hypocrites.

The main issue with the argument is the people who feel all the content needs to be made for them..

And it is not the hardcores saying this it is the casuals. The hardcore's want a compromise middle group or content for everyone the casual demand everything to be their way, casual or gtfo.

It is sorta like politics in Washington atm, 1 side wanting to compromise 1 side demanding thing be their way or the high way.

The solution is so simple I do not understand why so many casuals are against it, make content everyone will enjoy (which are opposite things) and make enough of it to satisfy both sides. FFXI did it right with ToAU, You could be hardcore and camp kings and get leet gear, or you could be casual and do a 30min raid and get THE EXACT SAME GEAR BUT SLOWER. why can this not exist in XIV. Let the casual get the same exact things in a casual environment while the hardcore can play the game and enjoy it as well.

The issue is the fact the casuals cannot grasp the fact that what they see as fun a lot of people despise.

Now on topic, if square wants to trully target the FFXI fanbase like they wanted they are going to have to give them content they want. There is a reason the FFXI fanbase did not go to WoW or another mainstream mmo game. They want to keep their own fanbase a compromise is required.

That's a difficult question and since I'm not a developer and don't have any kind of experience in the process involved I can't give a foolproof answer to that.

I think players who want to take on the most difficult enemies should be rewarded in a way that's satisfying for them. But at the same time people who don't want to do that or aren't able to do that should still get a same feeling of satisfaction and succes.
Finding a balance in this is really difficult I think. But I still think it can be accomplished with the availability of having instances and dungeons and implementing battle systems with makes more room for strategy. But at the same time people who can't party a lot should have and be able to get a same sort of satisfaction some way. How exactly I honestly don't know. Maybe by making pvp still survivable for people without raid gear and the like and have enough spectacular and adventurous mobs that can be solo'd or killed in small parties.
The balance between dropped unique equips and crafted equips should also be really good. So crafters and farmers can still make a living and casual players can still thrive for good rare equipment by the use of casual methods ( like crafting it or buying it ).

So you think the hardcore players are not enough to pay for the game? so they should just stay with casual players and make everything for them?

Hardcore players lead to playing this games for more then just a few months casual players end up only playing few month then end up moving to something else even if they do stay they end up quiting at some point.

Meet in the middle casual->hardcore there no reason why this game should not have hardcore events.

HNM--> Hard boss pretty good drop rate but still hard to get.
BCNM type : Pretty easy boss with a ok drop rate.

Which would mean even if i'm a hardcore player i can still do BCNM because it also a fun event.

Yoshi-p said he thinking of two type of dungeons

4man= casual = don't need much planing easy boss pretty good reward
8man=hard core = need a pretty good set up, need planing and need to time everything. very good rewards.

if he stay to his word and add this maybe the dumb war casual vs hardcore would stop. Sadly you not the only players in this game you need to allow everyone to have a chance and a say.

sadly all SE is doing on this fourms is listening to 20ish players 60%casual 20% don't care 10% hardcore 10% wants both. it's better off having poll to listen to the overall players every month having one then listening to the same ppl talk s??? about the game over and over.

Oh and i hate when ppl say want hardcore go back to FFXI, for what? it no longer a hardcore game it casual base now. COP uncap is very casual you no longer need to make a party a take hours to get one level you can get 90 in no time

Here's a thought. Maybe the hardcorer's could work on ranking up their jobs so they can do hnmls later. This should kept them busy for awhile.

I am what I consider a hardcore player and I would like ALL players to get content, ALL players to have access to everything in some sort of fashion. The problem with some of this newer content isn't only the content itself, its that we can burn through it in 1 week. SE made the mistake of 3-5 minute re-spawn timer that only will ruin this game. (At this point in time) What I mean by ruining the game is, why enable people to do ALL the content in under a week when it takes you 2-3 months to create this content? If the spawn timers were extended to 1 hour, and random location spawning. This would have increased the NM hunting to well over 1 week for every person. Most people would be trying to find/camp these for months. This would have given SE a chance to launch some Higher Rank content (what some people assume as hardcore). Only difference between Casual and Hardcore is the amount of time 1 person plays and maybe the understanding of the game mechanics.

SE should not disqualify a hardcore players Opinion, nor should it a casual, but who knows the game best? Person who plays 40-100 hours a week? or a person who plays 3-10 hours a week? Easy answer there, so please take some of the hardcore's opinions a little less lightly, those are the players who get more people into the game, fuel the new equipment, fuel the repairing, fuel the game in general.

To all those elitist that are too good for everyone, those guys can STFU and leave, they don't help the game at all.

I am able to play alot in the game. Because of this I can rank up jobs and what not. At a certain point I am hoping to participate in endgame activities. If all the wanna be hard - corers that supposedly play this game spent as much time ranking jobs as they do bashing other players in forums then I'm sure SE would be forced to provide something for them. Noone in this game has all to 50 yet. The truely dedicated players are truely dedicating their time to "the grind" for later. By all means SE should provide some things for players that are only getting 1 or 2 jobs to 50. Everyone should be able to enjoy their time on the game. I just wish all these so - called hard corer's of 14 would actually show their ranks and put there money where their mouth is. If you are ready for hnml's already then I would absolutely applaud you; of course I do realize that a few jobs at 50 would qualify. Show yourself let SE know you are ready for HNML's!!!
