And to that add that WoW's method is also horrible from an aesthetical point of view.

What I'm still wanting to hear is an argument that defends back pedaling other than "WoW did it".
I don't recall anyone supplying you with a defense such as "WoW did it". No one gives a fuck about WoW, it's just natural. All the games that have back-pedaling has a button that allows you to turn 180 degrees. I can't see how you still have an issue.

And here, I, and another person have given a reason why back-pedaling is useful outside everyone's apparent "Wow did it" defense.

Exactly, you can't parry if your back is facing the enemy. I think some people have forgotten that we can be attacked in 4 different directions. This gives us a retreat while having the ability to block or parry enemies.

And it's especially important for pvp. But I don't think you'll be a fan of pvp since it likely won't be like XI's intricate and immersible pvp system.
