While I don't want to bring your idea downI remember one thing I've heard somewhere not long ago:
"Nowadays players think that if you just slap some bass on the song it makes it 'epic'"![]()

It isn't base in its literal sense. I suppose I'm not doing a very good job of getting across what I am referring to very well. My title on the thread may be the main problem. Got people listening out for bass.
I suppose its more of a cadence or rhythm section. My music terminology isn't the best to get this over clearly, which is why I included to links to the videos.

Yesterday I just finished replaying FF1, in an emulator (as my nes no longer works, but I did it the old way, no speeding, no savestates, no game-genie), and the music really is superb.
I'm with FF2, and I'm astonished to remember that so many mechanics that we now days consider "breaking news" for modern RPG's were all present between FF1 and FF2, 25 years ago.
Square, you rock, I will support you until the end (and I hope to work with you guys someday I am brave enough to send a CV).
I get you and I agree 100%It isn't base in its literal sense. I suppose I'm not doing a very good job of getting across what I am referring to very well. My title on the thread may be the main problem. Got people listening out for bass.
