The time frame listed above. That is what to listen to. It is constant underlay, for the Battle Themes, from Final Fantasy I - VI. My use of the word bass , has seem to derailed what I was attempting to point out.

I'm not looking for bass, to become an addition to the music in the series, or to make a return. I'd just like the intro, if you will, that sets up the classic battle themes to make a return.

It was then I got to thinking...what ever happened to the classic baseline that was used as the template, for the battle themes in Final Fantasy 1 through 6, as well in Final Fantasy 9?

You know the one... dunna dunna dunna dunna -- dunna dunna dunna dunna! (No this is not the Jaws Theme~)

I do realize that the score for the commercial release of the game, very well may be set in stone, though I can't help but feel how much Final Fantasy 14, could benefit form this subtle, but extremely iconic addition to the OST of the game. Nobuo Uematsu, would you consider doing a rendition of a battle theme in one of the areas that utilizes this baseline once again? I would be eternally grateful.

I know I'm just one person, but I just wanted to express my desire to hear this once again. With the way music has evolved in the series to date, performing this now, could be a really nice return home!

Below are a few links to the baseline, in question.

    Final Fantasy Two: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b8TdhrqIc9c

    Final Fantasy Five: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k8jL8PdobDA

Thank you all for your time in entertaining my suggestion.
I know exactly what you mean. I've always loved that bass sound used for the begining of various FF battle themes. It's become such an iconic sound that whenever I'd hear it I'd instantly get pumped up and remember all the great times I had playing the old games. I would even dare to say that it's almost as iconic as the FF victory fanfare. Only that it hasn't carried on in the latest FF games.

Yeah, I believe it is bass, since it's a low frequency sound, for those who kept referring to only the drum n' bass/ dubstep music. A lot of other genres use it: rock, jazz, classical, etc. It's the very base for many musical compositions. It's one of the most subtle of sounds in certain musical works, that without it, just wouldn't work out.

But anyway back on topic, I would love to hear a new modern take on this, specially an orchestrated version. I can imagine they'd use the cello to use that bass sound we love so much.

Annnd as a bonus for those who DO like a nice bass drop in electronica, here's a nice use of that bass in a FF battle theme dubstep remix: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L2A-bwpBJR0

    Yes.

    HOWEVER

It should be something sparse. I'd melt into a pool of fanboyness if they took some of the old classic battle themes and mixed them together into some awesome orchestrated piece for the final fight with Bahamut. Something that was glaringly final fantasy when the music started up.

    That'd be just peachy.

This is exactly the point, I'm trying to poke people with. I also feel that it's very iconic and very Final Fantasy. For those of us that came up on the Final Fantasy series, prior to VII, it would evoke a large amount of nostalgia. I feel it has a place in the latest installment, and could be done so remarkably well.
