Lost faith in Yoshi-P?

no no no no no no NO. tanaka headed the XI project in name but sakaguchi and his development team were largely responsible for anything worthwhile the game had to offer. tanaka rode sakaguchi's coattails and took all the credit. this is a very common thing in japan when someone has power of seniority.

based on XI's success, tanaka was given a whole new MMO to actually implement *his* ideas from the ground up. the content was from him. the graphics engine was his idea. he had the final say in whether the game was ready and what he wanted before release. and he wrecked it. completely screwed the pooch. because unlike sakaguchi and his devs, he actually doesn't know what he's doing. he has no idea. he doesn't understand what makes games great.

also, yoshi isn't a "yes man". yoshi is someone who made a believer out of even Wada. wada just wrote the checks before. he never had any involvement in the development process. now he cares (enough to actually play the game to better understand its strengths and weaknesses) - and while certainly part of that has to do with not wanting to lose more money, quite a lot has to do with believing in yoshi and his process. and he wants to be a part of it.

want to give someone credit for XI? 'guchi is your man. but stop praising that charlatan tanaka for something he had VERY LITTLE to do with, and stop giving him a free pass for the atrocity that was XIV 1.0. 1.0 was the first time in his career he tried to do more than sitting in his office playing with his corgis, and by god it showed.

Your high? i'm sorry but tanaka ask for more time they said no tanaka had noting to do with XIV he said in a early interview few weeks from leaving SE that the Dev team did everything and he was not allow to do much. So there you go there was even a interview before ffxiv was release saying that they needed more time and they told him no he knew the game was not ready you need to get more information before talking bad about someone.

Agreed, the "blame", if you need to put it anywhere, is on a bunch of things not going the way they should have. Poor decisions made by a team of people. Something this large is not the result of a single persons efforts. Just as Yoshi-P is not the only one working on the rejuvenation of this game. In hindsight I have mistakenly put Yoshi-P on a pedestal as the only person we should have faith in. There was that "Special Talk Session" a while back, all of them are just leads on various aspects of the game. But as a lead they do take a certain responsibility, they are the figurehead's. The have the duty to do quality control, thus is the role of producer and director. The president does not make every decision on his own, he has a committee to help with these choices, yet who is the one we all focus our disdain on when something goes wrong?

Besides a select few posters ahem Rokien-ites.. I haven't really seen much hate on Yoshi as much of strong desires for or not for a particular feature. Oh and the recent lack of communication Alpha issues* -- but that really isnt Yoshida's job, though he does talk to us sometimes and that is awesome.

Go read the responses in the new alpha 5 thread. You'll understand. The world is ending and its all Yoshi's fault. He failed to reinvent the wheel!

I can't say I ever had "faith" in him in the first place, (I generally don't for newcomers for big games) but I don't think he's doing a bad job. Just some of his decisions on the direction of the game don't always mesh with my ideals.

I haven't lost faith no, far from that. I am however deeply disappointed and I'll explain why.

10 years ago many of you got to play FF XI and you loved it. I loved it too I got to watch my older brother play but 10 years ago I was in high school, there's no way I could have afforded a PC and monthly fees. Two years ago I hear great news about this game coming to PS3 and PC the way XI did. So I go great finally (I'm a photographer I use apple everything, it just works) I can get it for PS3. I waited and checked in to stores constantly for this game, traveled to the other side of the world, brought my PS3 with me, for over a year nothing....
So I finally say F it this summer and build a PC just for this game, and I stress, just for this game. I played it, loved it, got my friends to play, one said it plays to slow and another said this is finally a game with that classic JRPG feel to it which isn't common anymore.
I got to play for like 6 months... then they say they're shutting the game down but it will be back up by the end of 2012. Two months of waiting isn't so bad but now and unconfirmed date yet again is just a piss off. That's being honest. I never knew what was going on behind the scenes with SE because I'm honestly way too busy irl to waste time doing so. Whenever they gave their word I simply expected them to live up to it like we all should.
I haven't lost faith in them making a good game for me the game I played the past 6 months was great. There's always room to improve don't state the obvious, I'm sure were all smart enough to get that. What disappoints me now is that while sure I may play the game cause I'm a loyal fan I know all of my friends who are also loyal fans wont just because they're sick of SE and their "reasons." ARR will come and so will new players but what good is it really if it's not the loyal player coming online? We all know the randoms just quit when a quest is "too hard" lol or they run out of anima, seen it with my own eyes.

I just hope SE win back their loyal gamers with an FF online game before it's too late.

When I first read this post, it reminded me of someone familar. "He sounds like Dilu Bakari. It has to be this guy. Too much alike," as I mentioned to myself. I looked to the left hand corner of my screen and long behold, Dilu Bakari! Lol...!

Yoshi did far than better. There are things a lot of players are going to disagree/agree on, but all in all, that's your opinion of your own "better" game. Opinions are great, suggestions are nice, but I play this game and my faith is within Yoshi. From time to time, it amuses me when players within their own grasp just literally say how Yoshi suck and going to fail this game hard. If you know how to manage and make an incredible game from scratch, please go make one yourself. Show it to me how good it is and how it would captivate players across the world. If you can't do shiet, but cry, keep on crying. I won't tell you to stop, because now I know whose word to trust and who's word feels more like a "female" dog.
