Saddly they said they're removing the path companions from ARR and they'll examine re-adding them in later, after launch, if there's a demand for it.

I hope they reinvent companions, because I was really looking forward to that, but it wasn't as intensive as I wanted. I'm honestly looking more forward to BATTLE CHOCOBOS.
