Why must people be so vehemently against anything being a challenge? Do you just want to log in and be handed the best gear in the game? What is the point of playing?Well then, lets get them to make XIV so hard no one, and I do mean no one, can complete anything. Not a single quest, not a single monster. Forget about getting gear, you'll be killed the moment you spawn into the world and will never see past the first moment you move. Will /that/ be hardcore enough for you all?
There should be content that is easy and solo-able and there should be super hard one.
I agree, whole game being hard as hell isnt the answer
Did I say that, look back at my first post in here. I said BALANCE. Not all one way or the other!
Thank you, that is my whole point on this issue. Making content for everyone. Give the Endgame Elite their carrot on a stick, the solo / lowman their carrot as well. Doesn't have to be the same carrot. And maybe, one group will try for the other group's carrot and find they like it too.

LOL you have never played wow on hard mode which is the Hardcore player mode...Trust me you would meet people with some of the best gear but when you try doing something with them you start asking yourself how they got it in the first place because of how horrible they are. Game is horrible because it doesn't require you to make clutch choices, as long as you know how to press 1,2,3,4,1,2,3,4 and 5 every once in a while you're set. It doesn't require much moving around and most of it is everyone stacks on top of each other and zergs the boss.
Go watch some streams on Twitch and you will see that its nothing but rotations and ppl standing around is what the game is about.
No... the game could be that easy. I was in 2 top 100 US guilds which had members in it that had their entire rotation put on 1 button which they used their mouse... and the only thing they did in battle was scroll their mouse continuously over any fight and voila.... full rotation with 1 button. And yes... they were top DPS beating some of the hardest content in the game (which I'm told was only behind Sunwell in difficulty from people who played much longer than me).
Here's a better question: Suppose the devs were to make content so easy that you just log in and walk away from your computer and your character does all the work without you there. I mean, seriously, just turn on the computer, log into your account, go grab yourself a sandwich, and when you come back you find your character had cleared whatever instance and you got yourself three new pieces of epic gear. Would that make all the whining casuals happy?Well then, lets get them to make XIV so hard no one, and I do mean no one, can complete anything. Not a single quest, not a single monster. Bored so I'll throw in my 2 cents..
Here's what I want to see:
Social Content - Random player walks up to an event and is automatically grouped with other players in the event. This should be for points/tokens, so the player isn't forced to grind 1 event for a specific item. Redeemed for gear slightly better than standard craft gear, worse than Rare material craft gear. I think Yoshi-P already said this is happening, which is great.
Party Content - Scales to Light/Full party, low-mid difficulty (Something like each empty party slot, enemies dmg/hp reduced by x%.). Drops gear better than Casual Content, equal to Rare material craft gear.
Alliance Content (Same actual content as party, just harder) - Fixed difficulty, doesn't scale with # of Alliance members - hard difficulty. Drops HQ Gear, slightly better than Party/Rare mat gear with same/similar appearance (Picture Igqira Weskit dropping in Party mode, Genie Weskit dropping in Alliance, very slight increase but enough for elitists to be happy). Also drops Rare Mats.
That's extremely pathetic. Macroing commands in battle onto a single button shows no skill at all.No... the game could be that easy. May I know what casuals had miss out on content before ARR? Apart from losing...some of them...
Lack of practice.
Lack of time to improve gears etc.
Well, at least they still get to play the content and should be enjoying even losing them.
I consider myself hardcore, but I do want some casuals content for casuals to enjoy.
But if all contents are made for casuals to clear them easily...what challenge will there be for us hardcores?
The developer can try doing their best to provide for both casuals and hardcores, but unless both types of gamers plays their part in understanding, there will be no solutions to it.
Example :
Hardcores don't complain easy content for casuals to enjoy as long there are some hardcores content which takes time and delication.
Casuals don't complain hardcores content which they will take tons of their time if they want to win or achieve, as long as they can still participate and enjoy even losing.
What I'm trying to say, it takes a bond understanding between the 3 (Developer, Hardcores and casuals) to make the game successful.
no i think it's just sign of how bad wow and clones are being made. they lack dynamic play. you don't need to time moves and spells to remove dispel or stun. this is the diff from a long fight or even wiping in ffxi witch is missing from all other mmo's. tera is probably the only other mmo that felt a little bit like you had to pay attention to the mobs but that games mechanics got tediously boring quick. all these other games like wow the only diff between every mob is there skins.
witch by the way is another chocolate chip on the cookie for devs to copy wow over ffxi type mmo's. it's cheaper and easier to just use that type of fighting models. quick meaningless fights rather then longer fights with a little more meat in them.
