Hardcore vs casual gaming is about how seriously you take video games. The guy in the video has no idea what he's talking about.
Hardcore gamers take gaming seriously and casual gamers are simply those who don't take gaming seriously. The rest like time spent and skill are simply grey area. Not much else to it.

There's no set definition for a hardcore and casual gamer. Everyone has their own perception.

To say he doesn't know what he's talking about just means you're being condescending to try and look smart.

You're own point of view on what casual and hardcore is fine, as I said everyone has their own perception. But having your own opinion doesn't make everyone else wrong.

A casual gamer is a player whose time or interest in playing games is limited.

Hardcore gamers prefer to take significant time and practice on games, and tend to play more involved games that require larger amounts of time to complete or master

Stating facts are not a matter of wanting to look smart or being condescending. The guy replies to blander comments with more blander. Telling someone they are wrong with wrong info still makes you wrong, which is basically 95% of the video.

Really? you're using Wiki as your source? Because it's on the internet it's true!

If I log onto wiki and edit that article to meet my opinion then you'll agree with me right? After all it's only semi protected and my wiki account meets the requirements of editing semi-protected articles.

My point is that the definition you're citing there is not the set in stone definition because there is none.

I merely provided a link to the quotes in which I used to further my point that it is the general consensus of opinion on the matter and when defining definitions, that is what makes a definition a fact.

If you wish to argue that opinion can not be taken as fact, that is a whole different subject unfitting of the topic at hand.

I play games a lot, I like to be great at them, and I will put in the work, practice, and research that a "hard core" gamer would, so I consider myself a "hardcore gamer" But I don't think I take games "seriously". I don't make a fuss when things don't go right, or when I don't get into alpha, or when others aren't treating the process as "serious business" I put in the hard work because it's fun for me, not because I find gaming to be a serious matter.

P.S. it greatly amuses me that we're at opposite ends in this thread yet happily agreeing about Fernehalwes in another thread. Gotta love the online community.
