1: it's always a bad thing when paying customers are fed incorrect information. It's also quite problematic if the press picks it up.

2: Paying customers should always get first dibs over freeloaders. It's a very basic concept of customer satisfaction and loyalty. Going against it sets a bad precedent.

3: It's statistically very safe to assume that those that are passionate about this game enough to keep paying a monthly fee will test it a lot more throughly than someone that abandoned it mid way. Testing a game that, as you said, includes all the problems endemic of an unfinished products is majorly a matter of passion and dedication, which are pretty necessary not to get frustrated after the first few bugs and ragequit. Those that didn't have an active account already demonstrated to be lacking in that department.

I'm most certanly not ripping my hair off about it. I do believe I'm expressing the concept in a rather balanced manner. Mind you, I'm not even insulting anyone, while others are. That'd be a more telling sign of anger.

All SE has to do is to deny the allegation, isn't it? They did not, while they had plenty chances to.

There would still be threads full of people complaining about not getting in regardless of whether or not "non-legacy" applications were accepted. It seems like one big giant straw man to me.

    Edit:
As an aside, thank you Mr.Yoshida and the community team for that post. It's nice to hear from the horse's mouth what most anybody should have deduced was the criteria for selecting members for an alpha which by design exists to stress test new servers. Sadly this is the XIV forums, and making logical deductions isn't really the norm around here.

Where is this proof that inactives got in other than "other peoples" word? Do you have any? Would be so kind as to show me this proof?

lol Yeah, I'm weak, from laughter! I am so enjoying rattling your cage. Even got you to admit you were ticked off. In a "calm way", of course! This isn't the first time I've made an angry person a small hobby in a thread. Not even the most notable. But it is enjoyable, nonetheless!

Now I can't tell if you're really in denial of just ignorant of the facts. Either way, it's kind of sad in a funny sort of way. lol

And you seem bent in passing the idea that small barely important blunders should be treated with as much urgency as huge, company destroying mistakes. Which I'm sure, in some strange bizarro world, they should. Unfortunately, this is earth, and that's where your logic fails.

Again, insulting and telling the harsh truth is not the same thing. If they can act like crybabies, I can call them out about it. And I will. (shrug)

And yet, you think mis-information about a closed alpha is srs bzns. lol I want to go to business school where you went. I bet it's... interesting.

I'm not hiding anything, lol I'm clearly stating that people who whine and cry out of some false sense of entitlement are whiners and crybabies. No hiding, no false messages, no beating around the bush. There it is, blunt as can be. And I don't need your help getting that message across. Thanks for offering, though! You sweetie.

Can't say I disagree with that one, lol. Yep, it's gonna happen, company blunder or not.

There have been plenty reports of it over twitter and in fan forums. There have also been people here that tested with another inactive account if they could apply.

Where is the proof that it didn't happen again? all SE has to do is to deny it. Yet they aren't.

I'm very willing to believe whatever official statement SE makes on the issue.

Do forgive me if I condense, because it's getting tedious, so I'll skip all the little personal jabs that bring nowhere in order to keep the conversation focused.

And you seem bent in passing the idea that small barely important blunders should be treated with as much urgency as huge, company destroying mistakes.
I'm very curious to see you quote where I said that small blunders should be treated with "as much urgency" as huge ones.

    Do humor me.

Continuing to misrepresent your interlocutor's opinion because you can't counter it in its original form doesn't really work that well, you know?

Again, insulting and telling the harsh truth is not the same thing. If they can act like crybabies, I can call them out about it. And I will. (shrug)
First of all, you're not the harbringer of the "truth". It's no more than your very personal opinion.

It doesn't matter how much you think an insult applies to someone. It remains an insult. The rules are there for everyone to see. I'll link them for your convenience. Do read them.

Mind you, you should have done it before you started to post.

Oh my god, he posted something!!! He must be terrified!!!!
Do quote where I stated he's "terrified". if you can't, you may want to cut on the strawman arguments. As I said previously, they're tedious.

He reacted, quite extensively considering his busy schedule. Which means he's not taking the situation lightly.

Good, you may want to know that your bluntness is against the forum rules, not to mention the basic rules of civil discussion.

Wait... hold up... you mean to tell me that there's not even any proof that that happened? And Abriael's response it is "Well, they didn't deny it, so it must be true".

    Really!? I mean... really!?

Oh my god!! LMAO!!! You know what, I'm going to be merciful and just... cut it off here. I'll pass the torch to someone else. I'm laughing almost too hard to type anything anyway.

My sides are going to be splitting about this one for a while!!! I need to go watch something sad so I can stop! LOLOL!!!
