    Guys, please hear me out.

I didn't get in, like almost all here reading, and I'll admit i was sad. BUT, if you honestly read the posts, you'll see just what SE is trying to do. And it makes perfect sence!!

THEY'RE MAKING 2.0 a WIN! They're asking the players who quit because of 1.0 to come, try alpha, and see what we've done now. See what we've changed, see what we're doing. See our new FF14! Come back, please!

They NEED the player base to make 2.0 a success.

And for people that played 1.0 from Sept 20th of 2010, don't feel bad. I have a feeling Beta has out name listed somewhere secret And Beta>Alpha by far, amirite?

Guys don't rage, please. FF14 has the best community out of any mmo I know. They need more players back. They want 2.0 to be the success we all want it to be, which it WILL be!!

If one of the main focuses of Global Alpha was to stress test the servers and leave them up for 24 hours, I would think it would make sense to invite people who have been playing with an active account to assure the traffic is held up instead of those who are just signing up for alpha as a joke and haven't been interested in the game. Who is more likely to drop everything and test Alpha? Players who have been active up until shut down and are eager to spend time in the new game, or those who gave up and are caught up in a dozen other things that they don't have time for alpha? I feel OP's rage at people who aren't even players getting the invite.

It would be nice if we had some criteria that was followed in making the decision. If it was going to be random, or if they were catering to a certain demographic, it would be nice to know how that was selected.

Sorry, but you have no definite data on how many of what type of people were invited, so making statements like that just makes you look silly.

I'm curious, has anyone heard of any Legacy players getting an invite? I only know of 2 people who got an invite personally, both who are not Legacy, nor played more than 4 months (including the first free months ) over the past 2 years. One was in the closed alpha from 1.0.

I just want to see more Live Letters. I wonder when he's going to do LIVE V . My wild random guess is sometime during Beta maybe.

You think walking through one city with a forest tied to it and no content will get those people excited?

I'm not too sure what's all in Alpha, but I'd ask SE that question since they're the ones that did it.

I should start putting this at the top of every post I make from now on...

    Objectives of the Alpha Test

As the servers, core systems, game client, and other aspects of FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn are being completely revamped, the objective of the Alpha Test will be to check the core systems and server stress. For this reason, playable areas, character levels, race selection, and other content will be limited. The game system is currently under development, so bugs may be encountered.

Following the Alpha Test, the Beta Test will focus on checking game systems, reviewing in-game content, adjusting the battle systems, checking balance, and reporting bugs.
    * The Alpha Test will only be carried out on Windows PCs. The PlayStation 3 Beta Test will start in conjunction with the PC Beta Test.
