Did you know that realism and fantasy are opposites? This game is called Final Fantasy, not Final Reality.

Why do people care so much about jump? I don't get it. You requested it over and over and over and it's finally implemented and now you want some amazing Realistic Jump Simulation engine built just to cater for freakin' JUMP! Don't you think there are more pressing issues for the dev team to be working on or did you spend 1.0 living and breathing for a jump feature?

When did everybody suddenly become experts of jumping anyway? Jumping from running, your body looks like this when you jump, you can't jump over that, you shouldn't be able to jump that high, the tent should collapse when you jump on it (I mean really?), etc. Seriously, you're requesting a whole engine to be built around some gimmick feature.

Whilst we're at it, why don't we add a points/token system that accumulates whilst you jump and can be exchanged for exclusive rewards and perks to the way in which your jump works! And like, I really don't think we should do a perfect jump 100% of the time - that's just not realistic. Sometimes my character should land a bit off-balance, maybe even sprain an ankle which reduces movement speed for a bit. Or you know what really upsets me - that there isn't a bigger-than-usual splash when I jump in water, and how come when my character jumps up onto that barrel, the barrel doesn't wobble a bit?! Outrageous! I mean, if you want the tent to cave in, where do these sort of consequential effects to the environment end, and where does the dev team's workload on the Realistic Jump Simulation engine end? These might all sound like bizarre requests, but I really feel it will add to the realism and immersion of jump, because as it stands it's just not realistic enough and trust me, I jump all the time in real life.

Except I don't. Let's be honest, most of us (not to make a sweeping statement) sit behind a computer all day. Jumping ingame is probably the most exercise we're going to get. Just deal with it already.

Did you even read the OP? It's not a criticism about jumping being in-game, it's not a criticism about the animations used for jumping, it's not a criticism about how high people can jump. It was a criticism about being able to stand 100 people on the roof of a tent.

At no point did anyone (who wasn't using a flawed, negative hyperbole in an attempt to derail the thread) demand that S-E implement a real-physics solution to jumping on a cloth tent. The suggested solution was to implement an invisible wall which would suggest your character would use common sense inside the context of the game not to let you jump up there (in the same way you don't jump off cliffs). Personally, I have no problem if the structures being jumped on are made of a more solid material and people want to perch on them in their reindeer suits crafting all day.

I'm sure there are more pressing things for the dev team to worry about. And when they've resolved them, they might take a look at restricting characters abilities to walk on surfaces that can clearly not take their weight ("how much does a collection of vectors and textures weigh?!", I hear the trolls scream). After all, it's something they've clearly considered elsewhere in the game (eg ponds in Gridania).

Unless of course the feedback on that element of the game is buried underneath the flood of posts in this thread that are complaining about people who do not exist supposedly complaining about the jump function or its animations.
