Besides, as an active WoW player from Vanilla to now, the only drama I've seen in LFD consists of the (rare) person who doesn't know the dungeon and is too afraid/arrogant to ask what to do, or the competent player who "Ninja's" an item outside their role, and if the loot system is changing in ARR, then half the problem is gone!

We can all be friends, regardless of Home server. Think global community!
That was my experience as well. The ninjas and douchers were extremely rare. People actually realize that cooperation and friendliness is good.

I'm pretty sure that all of the people who are complaining about douchers in cross-realm matchmaking have either never actually USED them, or are only remembering the extremely few bad experiences and completely overlooking the average and good ones.

It also took them years to get there, and, let's be frank here, Blizzard developers are at the top of the industry. SE is nowhere near them.

Well, since you have exceptional insight in the MMO community as a whole, what would you say the ratio is between fair players to unfair players?

These unfair players have been pretty rare for me too.

I've only skimmed a few pages, so forgive me if I am repeating anything said. Alot of the first few pages are about World of Warcraft, so I thought I would share some personal experience with it.

I've had a WoW account since pre-40 man Naxx. I also currently play(two level 90s) since Final Fantasy XIV is down.
Cross-realm in WoW is one of the biggest mistakes Blizzard has done along with Raid finder, and Dungeon finder IMO.
All three seem like good ideas, but in action they all have problems.

Cross-realm has problems in WoW because pretty much every day is like launch day, people are all over the place making questing a pain. Running into a cross-realm area in WoW also has random problems like mining nodes despawning.

Raid finder and Dungeon finder are a problem because the level of difficulty is extremely low, and people will often steal loot from others because since it's cross-realm people don't care about personal reputation. (by steal I mean healers taking dps gear, dps taking tank gear, etc.)

The community in WoW was much better when you had to form groups and interact with people on your server. Now you just que and loot.

    I have to correct that.

Mining nodes "despawning" is not because of cross realm play, it's because of really poorly implemented "phazing" in long quest chains, where you don't see a certain player who is in a different questing phase than you are, yet mining nodes are visible across all phases in a zone. Someone might be in a different quest phase and you wouldn't even know they were there mining the same node as you; you'll only realize it after your mining node suddenly disappears and you have no idea wtf happened.

My curiosity with this system: will the search always prefer to group people on the same server or will it just search for the first available group regardless of their server? Will you be able to tell which server you and others are from?

I really like this idea as it was very helpful when i played WoW, being able to look for a group, continue questing, then up comes the instance, run it through and be plopped right back where I left off. I would really like to see more details on this system before commenting either way but as it stands, I support the development of this system. Just please give it the attention you are giving the rest of the game. I have full confidence in the ARR team, Good luck Dev team!

One can only assume that there will be a priority to the delimiters. Such as worlds, level req, position in queue etc.

OP, I was originally hesitant on this decision as well. Reason being is that games that implement this type of system allow for more anonymity to the players (therefore people can be rude, disrespectful, ninja, etc.).

However, after reflecting on it for a while (we've known about this for a while, now) I think this could be a good idea as it has been problematic quickly finding or building parties for objectives in both XI and XIV 1.0. The greatest feature about this cross-server dungeon group-up is that it's optional and if you would like approach dungeons in a different way you do not have to use it.

I honestly don't mind the cross server grouping in theory

But what I'm worried about is the method of operation. Will it work from town and autotele you into the instance/fight? I really, really hope not, completely defeats the purpose of their world redesign and slowly turns the game into a hub styled mess. If each instance/area has a separate content finder for itself right outside it's entrance? Then I'm fine with it.

Reflect on this. What if cross world also opened the door to cross regional server... meaning that you can use the tool and get players from all regions in your party... Would cut down wait time for sure, proven you can't trade while in the PUG. This could be one of the things that makes the game skyrocket rather then treading mud.
