lets be honest... if we have no useful benefit to getting married in game... do you really care?

Do I care if same gender marriage is in game. NOPE.
Do I Care if there is Marriage in game period. Nope.
Do I care if marriage is in game and Same Gender isn't allowed. Yes.
That fact that people Attach gender to a bunch of pixels in game confounds me. It's a
Damn game. However saying that. My wife and I both play and were are both Miquo'te.
It would be nice to role play a little in game as married from time to time if it was allowed.
Everything is predetermined. That is at least what you are heading to. lolJust what do you mean? you say i have no clue as to what i am talking about. i assume you mean that you believe that faith is a choice and therefor anyone who disagrees with you has no clue? if this is the case, then i ask you why you do not choose to believe the opposite of what you currently believe. If you are a theist then why not just choose to believe that there is no God or gods? if you are an athiest then why not just choose to believe that there is a God or gods?
Otherwise all there is to say is I believe what I believe because I choose it to be the best option. Just like I believe sushi tastes fantastic once a week but sucks 5 times a week - unless you want to tell me I was predetermined and had no choice of my opinion then.. otherwise it was just my choice to make the opinion (but could be heavily influenced).
That being said we shouldn't even be talking about faith - theist or atheist.
FFXIV has its own gods -ALREADY- and doesn't give a crap about real world Atheism, Christianity, Greek Pantheon or what else have you.
While calling it marriage doesn't mean it is the same marriage recognized in the real world it does allude to that. It would be better to draw a farther line.
Zeus and Jesus have no place in FFXIV. Lets keep it that way.
Ingame weddings = More food for drama queens.
As if people don't already have enough drama in their shells without the weddings in the game...
Just don't even implement it at all!!
I wonder who was the first person to think of it at all.
Guy 1: "You know, i thought of something! what if we had players marry in the game!!!
Guy 2: Oh ok, what would the bonus from that be? what would the players that marry gain?
Guy 1: NOTHING!
Guy 2: YESS!! LET'S GET TO WORK!
Oh I'm not against it.. I am very for it. I only want it because linking accounts with someone you trust who happens to be the right gender in game is a pain in the arse
I just want some sort of bonus for throwing my lot in with another character.. bonuses for partying together mog house visitation rights, exp bonus for sleeping in the same bed.. gear sharing ect. If its just a superficial thing.. i could give to shyts if it happens
I have no clue why this is an issue with people. It is a FANTASY game. Not real, no reflection to society "although i can fantasize" >^.^< If FFXIV allowed same sex marriage's would they really expect to be boycotted by millions of conservative Americans?? The simple answer is no it wouldn't happen the youth and the elderly who run this country are completely different and who do you think would be the target demography? whatever is decided for marriage wouldn't even get a mention on the news networks. Because it is FANTASY not real! I mean honestly if it was a huge deal for a religious belief be implemented on a fantasy game don't you think people that are (irrational argumentative "Insert religion") who would boycott the game would be playing a game with the Gods of Ezoria anyways?
bleh now the rant is over i guess i get it a little I just think that it's crazy fans are making an issue over it.
We are in Square Enix's world we play by their rules in their game. I personally respect whatever they implement because that is what they have decided for their FANTASY world.
Not to mention the people who do start "boycotting" and getting all pissed, conservative or not, are often those who don't even play video games lol. It's always the non-gamers that blow things way out of proportion. Not SE's audience, why should they matter?I have no clue why this is an issue with people. It is a FANTASY game. It's funny that you see the dozens of pages but it's not as big an issue as it seems. Looking at the poll on page 1 and the responses, a vast majority of them are overwhelmingly either for or not against allowing it.
you, sir, are my Hero! The point is still invalid. Much is made nowadays of falling in love, but we see where that's gone.
Astronomical out-of-wedlock birth rates, a generally decaying, corpulent culture, and replacement ratings below maintenance for current populations.
Marriage is supposed to be far more than what Hollywood soaps show. It is to be a permanent union dedicated to maintaining discipline and commitment from the man and woman in question, and to raising children. A biological error in a man or woman that leaves them incapable of having children does not make their relationship invalid, as was accused above - it is an error, an unfortunate mistake, in their biology. They are indeed designed for this coupling - but there is a problem that prevents them from fulfilling this portion of their biological programming.
It is, in no way, the same thing as two men who are incapable of producing children. That is a logical fallacy of astonishing proportions.
Actually, having no reward (or a symbolic reward, like rings and the wedding armor set.) ensures that people aren't getting wed for gaming rewards and advantages. Maintaining the purpose/decorum of the ceremony.Ingame weddings = More food for drama queens.

As for drama, well, its the internet. Anything truly worth a GMs time would have to be out there and past blacklisting.
