1.0 CE letdown

Well, we got to play the game a few days earlier. Which means that we got extra disappointment! No, but seriously - I think a lot of people bought the CE (I know I did) just because I think it's kind of cool to add to my collection. I mean, you have no idea how many people have seen that box on my bookshelf and commented.

"Oh wow...you...actually paid extra for that game?"
"Wasn't that, like, $60? And isn't it pretty much in the bargain bin at Best Buy?"
"Ooooh - FFXIV! Isn't that the ET of current gen?"

For PS3 marketing plan for example aside from package there are download market and thinking there are other approaches for package such as PS3 exclusive but how will you market the PS3 version?
Y: With both PS3 and PC for the package we will have the ARR FFXIV out. Of course we are thinking about ARR FFXIV specials for early reservations or collectors edition but for those with current collectors edition it will be possible to upgrade to ARR collectors edition though online update. We are currenting making adjustments.

I stumbled across this interview today and I know this is a necro-bump but I felt it would be a good idea to put it here. What this confirms is that; Yes, there will be a 2.0 Collectors Edition.

Unfortunately it leave many more questions.

for those with current collectors edition it will be possible to upgrade to ARR collectors edition though online update.

When they say "upgrade" will we need to pay extra for this? I'm fine with that, just curious.

When they say "through online update" does that mean we only get the digital features of the CE and miss out on any physical bonus stuff that others would get? (like a mug or security token) I would be more than happy to pay an extra $15 or so to get the extra physical stuff. Hopefully they will provide us with options to do any of the above options.

Can't wait for more info on what all will be included!

I actually bought the journal from the CE 1.0 on ebay so i can use it as a notebook for 2.0, and still have some nostalgia

I wonder if they mean like a digital deluxe upgrade which you would get in game items like a new mount and or special equipment or a title or something in game it is a cool idea though o.o

Every collector's edition is pretty much a scam. All depends on how much you love the company to give them more money.

I never actually got my certificate. I have the email even proving I had sent out for it still. But it never arrived. I hope maybe they'll give those who have a CE account (The serials you used would carry that information I hope!) extra consideration when handing out access to alpha. Who knows...

The only players they said that will get extra consideration are currently paying customers.

CE items are usually supposed to be garbage, more or less. They are supposed to be mainly for looks. Sadly Onion Helm look isn't the only one in the game with that look now
