Remember the NPC shops in FFXI?

They were closed at certain times of the day and on certain days of the week. Also, they had a limited supply of items per day, and they could sell out.

I'm not sure if this would necessarily be a great import into FFXIV, but it did give the shops their own life and it made the world feel more real.

One thing that would be more realistic (and would shut down pseudo-exploits like the 'Dawn Drop' fiasco) is if every NPC had a limited amount of gil they could spend on buying things per day or a smart supply-and-demand dynamic pricing model.

After a certain quantity of item 'X' is either bought or sold, the NPC buy/sell price for item 'X' would be adjusted accordingly.

I think this would make the cities and economy of FFXIV seem a bit more real and the NPCs seem less like cardboard cutouts.
