SE can't let a numbered FF game fail, that's why they're playing on the safe side and trying to make the game more up to modern standards. I have no doubt there will eventually be things totally unique to this game later on down the road. I think the mass exodus after the first month of the game proves no matter how much time Tanaka was given, this game was not going to succeed with his vision.

First it isnt the companies choice, regardless of what they think, its up to the player base, XIV maybe well be the 1st failed FF in its series. Reason is as Yoshi has done the CEO is making the same mistake by under-estimating the player base. That right there was the 1st mistake and may well be the last one they make in regards to XIV. Some players wont give it a 2nd chance and this is there last ditch effort and alot of players wont give it a 3rd chance. Its a wait and see attitude with 2.0. Word of mouth will have the biggest impact on 2.0 so Yoshi and the CEO better be damn well be ready if 2.0 isnt up to par.
