I'm not saying to disregard parties, because I want them in FFXIV ARR, but I want the "CHOICE" to play solo or party depending on my "Mood".

Ya, if you work alone you should progress SUPER SLOW. MMOs are about community working together, not me me me me me me I don't wanna play with people!

Honestly, I don't think there is any need to require a party for Leveling in an MMO. I do however believe there should be a large amount of content that cannot under any circumstances be completed alone. At the very least not without severe difficulty. And I dont mean just endgame content. MMO's should have a very significant amount of Solo and Group content, but I do not believe they should ever overlap. You should not be allowed to Solo group content and there should not be an Easymode setting so you can. Likewise, you should not be able to group your way through Solo content. They should both be equally difficult and cater to their respective crowds.

Sometimes you want to play together. Sometimes you want to play alone. But you always want to get more powerful. How you do it should be up to you. But they should not ruin everyone else's experience just so you can play the way you want.

That's why having "Soloable" content, when you don't have that kind of hours to play is a very good thing to have. I do agree that, FFXIV ARR needs to have a good amount of content, @ launch to hold us over till first patch of ARR. Needs a Balance of Solo/Duo and Full party Quest/missions.

If they can balance that out, then things will look good.

If leveling up was the core mechanic (meat) of the game, Then what exactly is everything else then Rice and beans? Leveling up is a "process" that take either little or a lot of time, depending on the vision of the game and how it's made. Leveling is what you do along the way, I don't consider that meat, if it was... it would get very boring after awhile, if there wasn't other meat to eat :P.

Content to me should be the meat and potatoes of any game, If all you had was leveling then the game wouldn't make it very far at all.

I couldn't have said it any better myself. Bravo!

I never said I "Always" wanna work alone now did I? If I forced an Apple down your throat when you didn't want that. Are you going like it? In a party, I can't play "the way I want to play" because everything has to be done "in a certain way". It becomes even more boring when you have people telling you how to play a game "you are paying monthly for".

I know solo you are expected to go at a "slower" pace but that's my decision on the days that I do. Maybe, I am having a really bad day and all I want to do is play alone and not deal with anyone. Leveling isn't suppose to be a chore, Leveling isn't a skill, Leveling isn't suppose to be "hard". Leveling is something you do along the way "as" you are doing content that gives you said exp. Leveling just gets you prepared for end game, and knowing your Job/Class.

Choices not Forced.. being forced to do "anything" can piss some people off, including me. If you asked nicely I can make a "choice" weather I want to or not. If you force me to do something, I'm more than likely to say no to you.

Leveing any job 1-50 should take aplayer 3 mnths, and from 50-99 another 3 months. total time to level cap 6 months period, this way a new game isnt top heavy as XIV is now currently. Power level if its stays and also if level sync is added, they need to add weapon skill levels. Now this will put a wrench in the works of those that level sync to cap as well as those that power leveled to cap by means of your weapon is below your current level, now you need to go back and skill it up and hopefully learn a thing or too in the process. Currently it is so easy to do anything that endgame players cant even play the job they are on in the content, and this is becoming an issue.

This has been my point since forever.

In many regards, leveling WAS content in FFXI, because there was no mid-level distraction to take you away from leveling. Story missions and quests don't count either, because most people always waited to come back to these after they got to cap; especially after killing Shadow Lord. I'm willing to bet that most of the time, when people weren't leveling, they were trying to make money for their next upgrade or grinding rep for whatever it was that they needed.

The fact of the matter is that, if the devs don't drop the ball, there will be plenty of real content to tackle WHILE you level, rather than some arbitrary task you have to perform while you can't find a group to level with or (god forbid,) you need to accomplish before you can even continue to level. I'd like to see some hardcore aspects injected into the game, I just don't want to see FFXI-2; it's not conducive to a good business strategy.

Also, "Why Play MMOs?" is not a valid question to ask just to excuse arbitrarily forcing you to group with other people. It's a fantasy game; there's nothing heroic about 4-6 people standing in a circle punching bunnies in the face for 6 hours.

Because you're supposed to level multiple jobs to not be a useless sack of shit. It's one of those Tanaka ideas that never left, kinda like the Market Wards.

Combine levelling 3 or 4 classes to 50. That's about double the average MMO levelling rate. Oh, let's not forget the inevitable level caps. So anyone with all 7 (soon to be 8) jobs at 50 now need to get them to 60! And usually the levelling curves from a level cap increase are incredibly steep. So your argument is flawed.
