Dark Knights were some of the best tanks in the series PRE-FFXI.

In FFT a Dark Knight could stand still with 4 guys wailing on him, Take all the damage they dealt, then turn around and strike one of them for all that damage, heal all the damage back to themselves and keep going.

    They were Drain Tanks.
Here's hoping for drk tanks and pld DD

You made a dumb comment: "dark knights have never been tanks" and he proved you wrong.

He missed nothing. He didn't say that they should be in this game either.

i seriously hope its like leveling shield, where it counts your current armory class as far as what SP base ytou get
with how many people are 50 in certain armory classes already, itd be nice to allow them to stay in the endgame camps to do the jobs too even if from scratch
I *seriously* hope we don't have to level jobs from scratch. There's enough grinding to do in this game already.

You have a very elastic idea of "dumb". You don't even talk about "tanks" in offline games, as the trinity is a characteristic of MMORPGs. FFXI is the only other online installment of Final Fantasy, ergo Dak Knights have never been tanks.

Jobs shouldn't be seperated by Weapon. Weapon Classes are (which is why its the Armoury System its a Weapon Class System) The Job system just fits on top and lets you play as a Paladin as a Lancer, Gladiator, Pugilist what ever you want. What ever system they use shouldn't limit what Weapon Class a Job can use or vis versa.
And this exactly why I want major changes to this weapon class system they have. They need to strip weapons back to learning weapon skill's only and have actual jobs for learning the skills, traits and abilities. That way you could easily be a PLD and still have a choice of weapons to use without it making huge changes to your job.

Still excited about hearing about it anyways.
Well he did mention the armoury system and the job system in 2 separate points so my guess would be that it would be more of a specialization than the addition of new classes from scratch

Offline games don't really count, as the usage of the trinity is much more elastic.
With the Job System me and Carpe have worked on you don't have to be a tank as a Gladiator,

You can be a Thief, a Red Mage, a Blue Mage, a Dragoon, a Dark Knight, a Paladin, a Samurai, a Ninja, any Job that has use of a Sword.

Jobs have always had access to more then one type of weapon in most of the Final Fantasy's. White Mage for example has had Hammers, Two Hand Hammers, Curled Staffs, Bo-Staffs, Knunchucks, Rackets, Shields, and in one case even Swords and Axes with the right set up.

I have to thank Square-Enix for the amazing job they have done recreating Final Fantasy XIV from Scratch. Especially the inclusion of Missing Genders which we petitioned for in good faith. This was proof to us players that the Developers are truly Sympathetic to our requests and that being honest and vocal can pay off with the amazing characters we have who are Female Roegadyn, Male Miqote, and Female Highlanders. Thank You SE, Thank You Community Team, Thank You Yoshi-P.

you got to be joking o.o so you want to unlock a new Job and be 50? so you can just go on from there?

No thanks i want to unlock a job like Monk and reset from level 1 and learn my job and enjoy it. That how it should be done allowing us to be 50 right from the bat is really dumb idea in my books. The game is super easy to level up you can get 1-20 on one leve reset. Top of that yoshi-p said he going to take off surplus so it not going to be such a pain in the ass to level up our jobs anyways.

They would not make us start from scratch that is for certain. However if they did make huge changes to how everything works I imagine they would let us spread our total accumulated SP/EXP over the new job's in a way we saw fit. For example if I had a Rank 50 MRD I could have a R50 WAR or whatever the new job system would entail. That would allow us to have our choice of what jobs we wanted when the new system arrives. I doubt it would go that far though, would it?

I'm sorry but i think it be like this

You level up Pug too 50 you can level up Pug to 75 or whatever is the new cap or level up your Job "monk from 1-max. If i unlock Monk and stay as 50 and go on from there it be dumb idea. If you want to stay 50 you can just level up your Pug or unlock monk and level that job from 1+

He said he going to take off surplus and you can now get 1-20 in about one leve reset so i think it better off it you start back from 1 on any job you unlock. Like FFXI you get 30 war and unlock any of the other jobs and you start them as 1.

Hopefully the Job System is just Titles that have no level and if they do its Ranks of like 1-5 or 1-10 and thats it. Each rank giving you a trait native to that job.
