i seriously hope its like leveling shield, where it counts your current armory class as far as what SP base ytou get
with how many people are 50 in certain armory classes already, itd be nice to allow them to stay in the endgame camps to do the jobs too even if from scratch
I *seriously* hope we don't have to level jobs from scratch. There's enough grinding to do in this game already.

You have a very elastic idea of "dumb". You don't even talk about "tanks" in offline games, as the trinity is a characteristic of MMORPGs. FFXI is the only other online installment of Final Fantasy, ergo Dak Knights have never been tanks.

you got to be joking o.o so you want to unlock a new Job and be 50? so you can just go on from there?

No thanks i want to unlock a job like Monk and reset from level 1 and learn my job and enjoy it. That how it should be done allowing us to be 50 right from the bat is really dumb idea in my books. The game is super easy to level up you can get 1-20 on one leve reset. Top of that yoshi-p said he going to take off surplus so it not going to be such a pain in the ass to level up our jobs anyways.

They would not make us start from scratch that is for certain. However if they did make huge changes to how everything works I imagine they would let us spread our total accumulated SP/EXP over the new job's in a way we saw fit. For example if I had a Rank 50 MRD I could have a R50 WAR or whatever the new job system would entail. That would allow us to have our choice of what jobs we wanted when the new system arrives. I doubt it would go that far though, would it?

I'm sorry but i think it be like this

You level up Pug too 50 you can level up Pug to 75 or whatever is the new cap or level up your Job "monk from 1-max. If i unlock Monk and stay as 50 and go on from there it be dumb idea. If you want to stay 50 you can just level up your Pug or unlock monk and level that job from 1+

He said he going to take off surplus and you can now get 1-20 in about one leve reset so i think it better off it you start back from 1 on any job you unlock. Like FFXI you get 30 war and unlock any of the other jobs and you start them as 1.

Sorry I don't think I made myself clear. I meant if they completely got rid of the current system so CON, THM, MRD would be no more. Then replace them with traditional classes now they would have to refund you your total SP and let you spend it on the new classes. That was just answering someone who was wonderin how they could do something like that without a character wipe.

    they arent doing that
the armory system is staying, please go back and look at the fact he stated the armory AND job system are being worked on
not "the job to replace the armory system"

you do realize you missed the point of what was said

the armory isnt going anywhere, its not being replaced

all the old stuff we did is gonna stay as is, with a job system overlaying it(addition to, not in place of)

That isn't true. the Terminology is older then MMO's. so is the "Trinity" though in FF's its never been a true trinity. Its always a Mix of 6 roles.

Tank, DD, Status, Healer, Elemental, Suberter.

Which Magically is exactly what the first 6 jobs are as well.

War, Monk, Red Mage, White Mage, Black Mage, Thief.

Just depending on how many character slots you mixed them up and sometimes fit two of those 6 on one character.

    Tank/DD, Healer/Status, Subverter/Elemental, Elemental/Status

Also Just about Every Final Fantasy not all but most, Have this ability called Cover. Its a neat ability. It makes one character jump in front of another and defend it. Much like a Tank would.

I have to thank Square-Enix for the amazing job they have done recreating Final Fantasy XIV from Scratch. Especially the inclusion of Missing Genders which we petitioned for in good faith. This was proof to us players that the Developers are truly Sympathetic to our requests and that being honest and vocal can pay off with the amazing characters we have who are Female Roegadyn, Male Miqote, and Female Highlanders. Thank You SE, Thank You Community Team, Thank You Yoshi-P.

The terminology is older than MMOs because it was present in MUDS, that are nothing else than an early incarnation of MMOs. It has never been applied to offline games simply because roles (as you yourself stated in more words) are much more elastic there.

That's why you can't apply most single player concepts to MMORPGs. Roles are less elastic and depend only on a single player's will. You can make almost any character a "tank" in a single player game, and be content with it regardless of efficency, because the only thing dependant on that decision is your own enjoyment.
Roles in MMORPG are subject to quite a lot more restrictions, as stricter balance come in play.

But no worries, I can amend my statement if it makes you happy. Dark Knights have never been tanks in Final Fantasy MMORPGs.
