While it could seem like it's lazy research, they probably do not want to mess with placing characters from other Final Fantasies' canon into the world of XIV. It's more likely just an homage in appearance, but using the name of the lore-irrelevant version of the boss.

As others have mentioned, the feature of the Gambit system is that you had the choice to automate your party's actions based on commands you programmed. This is what the Gambit menu looked like:

The lower on the list an action is, the lower priority it is for the character. As you can see, the first action a character will use above all else is for if a party member is dead, and so they will use "Phoenix Down" on any character. The game is smart enough to only use it whenever someone is dead so you don't need to specify further. After that, it's to Poisona. Then if all characters' HP are above 70%, it'll go to the next action, which is to cast Aero on any flying-type enemies. If there are none or they are defeated, the character can finally use the basic Attack function on the next closest enemy. I hope that helps.

Easier to just read up on than explain honestly xD. It's more "Have to play it" type of things.

The gambit system is programing for newbs. :P

You have a string and then you fill it in with specifics.

If [HP/MP] [%] [symbol] then [another command string or action].

[If [hp] [50%] [<] then [use [potion] [on self]]]

    Its simpliler in practice.

I actually wish they added this type of "programing" into the auto translater

Auto translate [ if [... something...] then [something] ] . Then the autotranslater could properly reorder more complex sentences based on who you are talking to (not all languages order the same way). Also the auto translater may be able to pick better words based on context rather then words it may used if you strung a bunch of singular auto translates together. [Mithra] [food] [hole] [can I have it?], wont translate properly into all languages (words will, logic wont).

To quote someone else from the other topic"

seems explained in the interviews : in ffIII, hein it's a lesser boss, while amon a boss of the crystal tower. Since that char is a boss in crystal tower as well, it's refered as amon
So yeah, don't act like you know better than the game designer's lol. It's just their own choice to use this and not the other name.

Bosses always drop 2-3 items, you can lot on say, 3 items in a week (per boss?). If all your lotting chances are used up, you are unable to lot for items at all on that boss. You still get tokens though so you can help out others that are running it. Could also make it so that if the entire party can't receive items they are dropped to the ground.

I much prefer that than being entirely locked out of running certain content for several days at a time.
I'm thinking it's going to be one of those things where you can only run certain dungeons 3 times a week, but who knows. Bosses in WoW usually dropped 1-2 items plus x amount of tokens for beating them. It could be that simple too.

I find that being in a certain GC is very closely linked with supporting that city so if that happened I'd feel a strong need to join the Adders. I don't like Grid or the Adders, I want to stay with the pirates! Also, this kinda goes against the armoury system and I really don't think the two should be connected. Choosing to play level 1 as some class should not restrict your location options. You can change your class by changing weapon/tool (and are often encouraged to do so) but I doubt you can change your starting city so easily. Maybe give us some minor advantage for choosing the same city as our starting city is in (like a weak ring that gives stats beneficial to that class) but don't restrict us to it. If we have to choose a main class when we go to 2.0, I'm choosing ACN so that I can stay in Limsa!
I'm pretty sure since you already have certain things leveled up that you'd just need to choose like MRD to start in LL. Even if that's not what you want to play, you already have your other classes leveled up so it's not a big deal. It's just a placeholder to get you into being a LL citizen.

I remember reading a post saying they're going to alter a field in the database for all characters after the servers go offline to a specified position. Like how people either started on the boat or in the streets of Ul'dah, maybe when the game first starts everyone starts from this "lobby" sort of area.

Oh, and thanks for the summary Stainslaw.

I kind of expected them to handle it this way, which is fine. I just hope there's an option to change a character's name as well, if one were so inclined. Especially since many people may be changing their character's gender.

I remember Yoshi saying in one of the interviews this is still something they're working on implementing. No definite answer on whether we can yet or not though.

They probably will update the site by time alpha starts oitherwise that site serves little purpose even as a 'teaser site' lol. Also I highly doubt it would be on lodestone since lodestone is for 1.0 info, not ARR information. Anything that universally pertains to both present and future XIV will be on lodestone, i.e Billing practices or data conversions (like the differences between the two versions)..otherwise don't expect too much on lodestone.
Elexia has issues. Boy thats not nice at all is it? I'm simply stating that we dont get equal treatment even though we pay like everyone else.

Just sayin, everytime SE does something you always say its "unfair" or some form of. Realize a Japanese company with a Japanese development team will post and market things in Japanese first and foremost. Western companies does this as well. Everyone is on equal footing when it comes to their MMOs, if you don't believe this, play a Korean based MMO localized to English and see how many updates the International (NA/EU) version is behind compared to the original KR version.

We all pay, but SE isn't an NA/EU company, it's a Japanese company. It has branches in other nations but that doesn't mean they handle the same exact development. Even the companies apart of SE now handle their own thing like Eidos, which also gets staggered information in Japanese sometimes despite their team being part of SE now. Hell the EU reps get info that even the JP reps doesn't even post sometimes, so it's not "unfair treatment" or anything, it's simply how the info is being handled. It wouldn't be a problem if they just updated the www.finalfantasyxiv.com website like they're supposed to be doing.
