gw2 is a bigger grind then ffxiv. the only diff is they make you grind dungeons and events, you gotta run between each one of them so a weaker mind would think it's not a grind cause you can stop inbetween more. 40hours of doing any to max is 40hours, 80hours is 80hours don't matter what your doing it's grinding. there was a spot in gw2 where u could fail one event and it triggered 4 events back to back rather then 20minute wait for the next event in same spot. people grouped up in parties there, was the only time i had a 4man party with another like 20+ others around doing the same thing and felt like a mmo. next day they removed it. that shows how much running around doing nothing and how much time between each event and killing they know there is. that is way worse then a grind. and you don't grow to know the community that way. in ffxi you spent hours grinding ..same mobs maybe but it wasn't being covered with coffee breaks or teleporting or running from one spot to the next. and on side note ffxi had lots of exploring, it was seperate from the grind, every expansion first thing everyone was doign was running together zone to zone questing and all that stuff.

I'm sure 2.0 will be an improvement on the current version, don't get me wrong. It's just in my opinion, the changes planned are really the most thought out decisions. In every MMO I've played that has had a Major overhaul, character wipes were put in place to eliminate possible currency inflation and Market Control. As for the Market Wards, being able to see what people have their items listed for isn't great, need I mention undercutting at all? At least in XI, you never knew and as a seller, you could still make more than you listed for. Market Wards are just a hassle, and alot of new players won't stick around because of it. Just sayin'

Legend tells of a legendary warrior whose kung fu skills were the stuff of legend. He was so deadly, in fact, that his enemies would go blind from over-exposure to pure awesomeness!

lol i don't have a relic yet but what would be the point of someone else having one and grouping up with 7 others that don't take the same time to get one? why spend millions upon millions for triple melds and others in group are half naked wearing there sb items in a dungeon you want to get done as quick as possible. granted this game the second you learn what you need to do you can do them naked but that is a problem in it's own that needs to be fixed or those no relic guys will grunt there way out the game. and so will the ones you enjoy playing with cause they bored and lonely.

they may grunt get a relic, but then theres the 360 side, hey i no craft so i can play 1hour ..you make me gears for cost even though you spend hours a day level, you take me in event and even have to win it in one or 2 try i have to go sooneven though i is the problem. so there is tons of sides to that coin.

I dont get the market wards complaints anymore. in the beginning it was pretty terrible, but since they added the search feature and allowed you to buy straight from the search window and allowed you to shop the other cities from one place, its no different from an AH. i dont really sell anything but i buy all the time. is that the complaint? trying to sell stuff?

cause you can put something up for sale, obviously undercut and by the time you warp out of the wards someone else has already reundercut you. lol. if people don't put there prices at the same as the lowest an wait there turn it's a big game of undercutting. and rmt for sure have the time to keep up with it while others will just say screw it and leave.

    Just to be clear...

Are they actually adding new servers specifically for new players, or have I taken something literally which was meant as a joke?

sorry, i didnt mean that relic weapons were pointless. it was actually a subtle reference to a particular poster who is an obvious "brony". it wasnt really meant as a personal attack on that person, more on that mentality of person. the kind that is always calling others down, finding any way to make other people feel worthless so they can feel superior. the kind of person who shouts "noob" and proceeds to point out how terrible they are at the game.

I prefer the kind of person who remembers being new, would prefer to help another player get better than call them down for not knowing. someone who will take time out of their end game content to help out a stranger trying to do a quest they remembered having difficulties with.

does that make more sense now?

    or

run to wards, zone into battlecraft or whatever, run to zone, shop... repeat zone/shop step for each item bought

point is- it isn't exactly the same, and the market wards are a cause of unnecessary player stress. it's an annoyance no matter how you slice it. however, in making ARR as quickly as possible they couldn't just completely remake certain architecture from the ground up without sacrificing a fair chunk of time. they clearly chose to get ARR up and running as soon as possible and in order to do so made the judgment call that they should just carry over the market ward system and try to improve on it a little to save development time.

and before anyone says AH doesn't take much development time, need i remind you how long it took blizzard to work out the bugs in diablo 3's AH? or how it took even longer for arenanet to work out the bugs in GW2's AH (with a fraction of the player base, lol)?

and this doesn't rule out the option of developing an AH for the future, after ARR is released, if people still hate the wards. but right now they're just trying to focus development time on other things moreso. i'd personally prefer to just wait a couple extra months while they get a good AH up and running, but they likely don't think they can afford to keep the game down for most of the year.
