I'm no where near having an issue yet because the majority of my classes are still en route to 50. I can see where it's a problem once I'm switching between AF sets or whatever else have you, in terms of space conservation. However, while I currently have just about every class's weapon/tool in my inventory now for ease of leveling... I highly doubt I'm gonna bother actually keeping all DoW/DoM/Crafting gear on me at all times. If they keep retainer bells in convenient places around the cities, 2-3 gear sets would probably be more than enough for me once I'm at cap level on that many classes at once. Would be even better if gear sets could be swapped out with your retainer as 1 "item" per set.

There's gotta be a balance between keeping the point behind being able to swap classes by just swapping your main hand, while at the same time not going nuts with having enough room for 7+ characters worth of equipment and mats, at which point you might as well just do away with inventory limits altogether. According to these forums this means you have a large sense of entitlement and think SE owes you something.

that char in the video was also only level 10. I think it's fairly safe to assume that only 3 classes were unlocked at all. Tbh, I think there's nothing to worry about.

gear, weapons, tools, food and consumables for everything. i don't think i've been below 175/200 at all this year. usually hovering around 185-190/200

...and that's still leaving a fair amount of situational gear on my retainer.

yeah i was there as well, but got rid of a ton of gear for my gathering/crafting classes to save room by using a single piece across all of them. it has hurt my crafting success alot though so will probably back to each class with its own crafting gear.

I'm usually sitting at 170 in my inventory. A lot of it is material to craft with. I carry everything including the kitchen sink.

Yoshi P said that you would have to manually equip the item you want to use across different Gear Sets, or create a macro to do it for you. But he added that they would be seeking feedback on this.

I hope they change it because I also use U/U gear for different jobs, so the Gear Set system as it stands now is going to be rather frustrating to use.

    To the OP,

I craft and gather also, so I always need to free up space and struggle to stay at about 190 items between weapons, tools, armor, different clothing sets for different jobs, food, jewelry for different tasks, dark matter, the constant influx of rubbish items from gathering, etc. etc.

I'm hoping the reduction back to 100 items isn't as troublesome as I think it might be. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they get it right.

I am not sure what is the issue guys...
I guess it will be a bit like macro now
If I have WHM and BLM and I want same belt for them, right now when I make a macro to change to BLM I don't need to add the belt line in macro because as long as the job is compatible, the belt is not removed from one job to the other
I guess it will be the same for the new gear set system. If you want an item to be in 2 places then just equip it and do not put anything in the belt slot of the "gear set" and it should go from one set to the other
    just my 2 cents...

From the way Yoshi P described it, it's quite different.

Imagine you have one big cart that can hold 100 items, and 3 smaller buckets that can hold 12 or so items each.

You can say one of those smaller buckets is your Monk bucket and put your weapon, your armor, and accessories in there.

You then say the next bucket is your Bard bucket and put your bow, your armor... Oops!
One piece you want to use for Bard is already in my Monk bucket -- let's say it's a pair of Felt Bracers with +54 Attack Power.

You can now go get another one (as long as it's not unique), or you can move it from the Monk bucket to the Bard bucket... but that item cannot be in both buckets at the same time. So you decide to keep the Felt Bracers in the Monk bucket.

Now say you were crafting or doing something else and are invited into a party and are asked go as Bard so you put on items from your Bard bucket... but the Felt Bracers are in the Monk bucket. You will need to manually equip those now and every time you want to play Bard. Small inconvenience, but when repeated over and over, it will get annoying rather quickly.

That is how the new gear set system is set to work right now.

Yoshi P said that to be able to assign one piece of equipment to different Gear Sets would require them to create an alias to the item, rather than moving the actual item itself (as per the current system above).

But I think they need to spend a bit more time on figuring this out and making sure that it won't be frustrating to the players, otherwise we're going to have a lot "The UI is horrible 2.0" threads all over again.
