My inv is typically jam packed at LEAST 170/200 at all times, and both my retainers at 150 each. I'm not sure how the inv management can possibly be streamlined to make me be okay with only 100 spaces on me (even with the added 50 retainer spaces).

Yes, you missed something. You only can have one U/U copy at a time in your inventory. Put the first Gridanian Officer's Overcoat in your Monk gear set and you can get a second. They've mentioned that equipped gear will no longer take inventory space. This includes gear put into sets you're not using right now. The downfall of that is you'll need multiple pieces of the same gear if you want to include it in several sets. Which, makes me curious... On gear that's U/U how will that work?
Example: I have a Gridanian Officer's Overcoat. I have this item equipped on my Monk. Now say I want to use that same piece of gear on my Bard too. Naturally I'd need to get a second copy of the-But wait! It's listed as U/U meaning I can only have one copy at a time. This means I'll have to switch to my Monk setup, remove the Gridanian Officer's Overcoat from my gear setup, and then switch to Bard, and manually equip it, right?
Unless I'm missing something isn't this just going to make more pointless steps than what's needed?
I don't say it's the best, only how it can work.
Me too. I'm still hopeful they will come out with a finished system that is easy to understand and use... and lets us manage our inventories easily.

People have something to worry about in the current version. We cant make gear sets right now, and cant do anything about what isnt already equipped because we cant make gearsets yet. So what if Yoshida's character had 3 unlocked, that doesnt help anyone now. He probably unlocked them prior to the video so he can demonstrate them, and everyone starts with one. Or they unlock every 5 levels. Doesn't matter either way, because we dont have gear sets right now. Everyone who does a lot of different classes and jobs will end up with a lot of stuff, probably their unequipped gear, placed on the temp NPC.
I also play all classes but 3 battle classes, and cullinarian ingrediants take the most inventory space of them all. I am hoping SE handles this correctly.
I also wish they didnt lower inv space at all, or at least not right away so we can all get our gear into gearsets, then they lower the inv space like a month or two after while utilizing the temp NPC for overflow. We wont have to worry about our gear being on temp NPCs at launch that way.

you pretty much have too. much as i'd love to carreer a job, this game makes that a dame near impossibility.
or you could just not be a tard and not put the gear you're going to use on multiple jobs into a gear set in the first place.
and then not reduce your inventory by hardly anything. that's what people are talking about. there's very few pieces that are only used on 1 class so you're saying leave it all in your regular inventory so then you run into the same issue with the new amount of space. out of my 150+ pieces of gear i keep at all times i doubt more than 30 of them are only used on 1 class/job.

I carry:
Gear (Armor, weapons, and jewelry for all jobs, spare stuff for spiritbonding, etc)
Tools (Primaries, secondary only for jobs i'm leveling at the moment)
Food (Only crafting food)
I also carry tons of materials for my crafts, and a bunch of junk that i need to put on my retainers.. since i'm a pack rat like that.
I don't know how i'll survive 100 slots come 2.0. Just hope we get enough gear sets.![]()
I tend to carry the weapons/equipment/tools for my frequently used classes. The rest is packed away on my retainers.
I don't stockpile things I think I might need someday, I keep the things I need today and tomorrow. The only exception to that rule is items that are very hard to get my mits on. but there are not many things that are too difficult to obtain in this game.
