Also, right now, people wanting regional servers are in the majority. Not a scientific fact, but when asked that ismple question on this forum, there was an overwhelming majority for regional servers- like a 2 to 1 ratio.

You're sitll misusing the word segregated (people love using this word because it carries a lot of weight, especially in North America- but that doesn't mean it's not being abused). You have a choice of where to be. You are still free to choose any server you want, and server transfers will be avialable as well. It would only be "segregation" if the servers were region locked and you weren't allowed to choose servers in a different region. I'm not being deaf or not hearing certain things. I hear it all loud and clear. Those EU and JP friends are welcome to join whatever server you join. You don't know that they wouldn't unless you ask.

there is nothing eaiser about it. You still have friends of friends of friends that may or may not want to change servers in this situation. It happens every server merge or new server setup in every game i've ever played. Friends inevitably get seperated. You can either make new ones, or stamp your foot and pout, but it still happens. Labels are irrelevant. Changing worlds when a new one created has the same difficulties regardless of what label is placed on them.
Hosting costs are barely a footnote in MMO Quarterly bills.
