Don't know why they dont just keep the servers running with a testing bed server people can join in and help with.

I'm sure no one wants to play ARR if its going to suck, so though we dont want to we will wait. Also that means they can dress the city up and revive their halloween and christmas events..

This is true, but if moving data to the new servers takes 1-2 months, why not close 1.xx at a later date? Would keep us busy a little longer.

Why would you think that? If they do that, which I'm hoping they will, will mean that they will have more time to focus on completing the game fixing as many bugs as they can and give us a break monetary wise as well as emotionally LOL. I'm very happy for this news. I don't want another half assed game to play, not that I never enjoyed this one, but I want it to be done correctly as I'm sure everyone here does. There are other things to occupy your time and money while the game is down. I myself may be playing GW2 (a coworker of mine is going to help me buy it and I'll be playing with them) and if I'm not playing that there's anime and a shit ton of other games I need to finish! *hangs head* I have never beat FFX FFXII or even FFXIII (all with good reason though was playing them on my ps3 had over 100 hours for two of the games and then the ps3 died... twice) There's a few others as well but I don't wanna look like a completely gimped gamer girl rofl.

I dunno about that... I tried to play other games and I always came back to this... I would even login when I meant to login to other games... I don't... I don't think we can escape.

It's possible with me, I keep hoping I'll be able to keep my interest in this game. I also play WoW and I've put that on the shelf to level in FFXIV since re-joining in August, but once the servers go down for FFXIV, I'll have nothing left but the new WoW expansion and a whole lotta brand new content over there.. as much as I can't wait for 2.0, coming back to FFXIV will be a challenge if it stays down for huge lengths of time and I've re-devoted myself to World of Warcraft.

I'm just gonna try to stay up to date with information and stay in contact with my LinkShell mates and hopefully that will be enough to keep me hanging on. If the servers go down for long periods of months on months, their best bet would be to keep information coming to us from official sources at LEAST every week if not more.. to keep our attention.

People who lost interest already left the game a long time ago.
People who are new or just got back just to see this game as it nearing its end will logs back in no matter what. Even if they just log for the first month and then leave again.

In other words, downtime and the interest at this point is no longer related.

I feel like that's far too personal of a decision to paint with such a broad stroke.
Maybe what you said is true for you, but outside of that its nothing but an assumption.
