    The cost isn't the issue, it's the fact that, short of leeching, one cannot level ARC without constantly spending gil. Other jobs do not require this. How does it make sense for one, and only one job be required to spend gil to level when no other does? It doesn't matter if the cost is exuberant or paltry, it's still an uneven mechanic.

    If other jobs doesn't want to be gimped yes they do constantly spend gil, also 999 arrows lasts a fair bit so you're not "constantly spending gil" unless your party is so gimped (because of no one else spending gil) that battles lasts to the point you're expending up to 100 per battle, yeah you have problems.

    Though I can see what you mean, in a world of powerleveling one does not spend a single gil outside of weapons.

    People spend money on food and potions, but nobody else has to spend money on arrows. On my server cobalts average 40k a stack. (well, that's what they were before inflation. I haven't logged in since Atomos patch) Saying archer isn't at a disadvantage is just plain wrong.
