So are you stating that if we had 2 games otherwise absolutely identical, but one of them had amazing graphics and animation, and the other one had crappy outdated textures and stiff animation, they would be 2 completely different games?

Well, i wouldn't go that far, but thanks for proving my point.

Graphics and animation are a factor. Even this thread is proof of this. How much of a factor? Well, that's subjective.

I'm not saying this to be mean, but i think you drop the subject because you've reached a wall of logic.

I'm enjoying this game, but somehow i value animations more than you. That's all. The rest, including what i'm going to do with ARR are completely irrelevant.

Just a hint : If i wasn't insanely interested about ARR and the future of FFXIV, i wouldn't bother making this thread and trying to communicate my (or our) views to the developers.

Only using the forum to complain voice concern about a minor thing doesn't really prove to me that you're "insanely interested." It just makes you sound like this isn't good enough to live up to the insanely high standards of the almighty Nemy Oinos, since you didn't bother to post on this forum at all until this one thing.

    EDIT:
I'm not trying to make it sound like you can't have concerns about the issue. I'm just saying, it's really not as big of a deal as you're making it out to be. From how you're presenting your argument, A Realm Reborn is going to be unplayable because of this one feature being removed.

Minor issue for you =/= Minor issue for everyone.

You're trying to present the situation, like its just me, complaining about my fetish all these days. This is not the case. I'm not alone in this. Look around you.

Also, in your last 2 posts, you dropped the very relevant subject that we were talking about, to direct the discussion into a personal attack against me. It is also funny and ironic, to accuse me of complaining about a minor issue not for the future of this game and this community, but just to satisfy a personal need of showing that 2.0 isn't good enough to live up to the insanely high standards of the almighty Nemy Oinos, while at the same time, this personal attack, serves nothing other than satisfying your own personal need to ridicule and belittle my intentions in this forum.

Discussing the factor of graphics / animation = relevant.

Attacking my intentions and my relation with the game and forums = irrelevant.

So i'm not going to talk about me. I'm just going to ask you a question regarding all those, that value animation in this thread : Do you think we would post and discuss in this thread daily, if we didn't care about the future of the game?

So, because some of us don't care about the removal of this "inertia" animation, we don't value animation in general? As I said earlier in the thread, other games have worlds that actually have some life to them, with NPC's running around, moving, etc. You said you would rather not have that stuff, in place of having an animation present for your character when they start/stop running. In that statement, you prove that animation isn't actually all that important, just how your character moves. I'm sorry, but I cannot agree with you on any level here. I want this game to have a world that feels alive as opposed to a clunky animation I hardly ever notice anyway. (Yes, it feels clunky to me, because I don't stop moving when I actually want it to, I do that stupid stumble forward)

I'm sorry to once again make it ALL ABOUT YOU, but not everybody shares the exact same feelings as you. Someone who might want to have the inertia animations might also want to have NPC's actually do something instead of just stand around like mannequins.

Jeepers Creepers, stop. You make it sound like I'm calling you a stupid idiot (which I am not, fyi) and taking your lunch money. I'm responding to you, so I'm directing stuff at you.

so what im getting from this is that you possibly like the animations but that they very slightly lower your control for the sake of realistic movement?
i have to ask, does it really bother you enough to call it clunky since its stuff that doesnt affect battle, since its out of combat movement and that slight slow out doesnt affect playability much at all, isnt it something that shouldnt be a problem or hinder the game at all?

It does affect movement in battle though, especially for mages. If a mage has to stop and quickly cast they can't because this animation has to finish and you can't cast while moving. This animation really seems like it only exists to cover up the fact that the servers don't know when you've actually stopped, so you do a little half-step instead of just sliding to a halt. Right now when you let go of the movement key you can't cast right away because you are still considered to be moving.

He's got a point I play as a mage and that stumble portion is very annoying because you're trying to cast as quickly as possible and seeing the whole "you can't cast while moving" gets to be a pain in the ass (especially as a whm trying to run through a dungeon keeping the tank alive)

in the current system that is true, but thats one of the main reasons why they rebuilt the engine, to eliminate any kind of animation lock. in the current version you would have to wait for the animation to finish before doing something else but thats because the code forced you to not the animation itself. since this should no longer be an issue, it is solved by canceling the animation to execute another action and therefor eliminates any hindrance to battle

That's server lag. The server thinks you are still moving.

Anyway, they could just override the animation if that was even the case to begin with, which it was never.
