Here's what SE should do to not see this problem in ARR:
- Make "New Player Servers" and ONLY Newly created characters can go in these servers (No transfers on those servers for at least 1 year)
- Make Servers for the Existing ( For the people that will have all these insane amounts of gil and can charge and arm and a leg for stuff).
It won't fix the economy for the existing, but it will definitely will a fresh start for new players on those new servers.
( I myself would be going to a New Players server if they go this route). My Main character will just float there waiting to be put on a server till they allow transfers to those servers.

Please keep in mind that NPC prices are also reduced.
I doubt it'll work like that. in some areas sure. but i'd be fairly certain that you'd never see shards being sold for 10 gil. or some double melded relic weapons go for just 1 million. repairs may drop to 50 gil not 500g but i really don't see it going at all that well.
i'm not rich but lets say i have 30 million today. with that 30 million i could buy an a sarnga / mailbreaker double melded.
if in 2.0 they cut my money by 90% so i have 3 million do you really think i'll go to the ah /merchantile house and buy one of those sarngas / mailbreakers for 3 million.
i have my doubts. and i think that's partly why people are apparantly investing in gear/materia so much i get the feeling it's a case of my 100k will only be 10k in 2.0 but my 100k materia will still be 100k...... or at least thats the belief
What if SE made Servers for just "New Players" How would the economy work then for them? ( i'll be one of those people who re-rolls)
If nobody buy it for the old price because everyone hasI doubt it'll work like that. in some areas sure. but i'd be fairly certain that you'd never see shards being sold for 10 gil. or some double melded relic weapons go for just 1 million. repairs may drop to 50 gil not 500g but i really don't see it going at all that well.
