    We used to have.

Best graphics on the market for MMO
    Best animations on the market
    Gobal Community
    Always alive servers
Best Monster AI in the MMO market
    Little hand holding
Longevity of the leveling and exploration process
Being able to play everything with one character.

Slowly putting strike marks through all that unique stuff. All for the sake of living up to the market "Standard".
I honestly don't see how anybody can play the current version and say it's the best animation on the market. There is more to this game than starting to run... 90% of the emotes are awful, weapon skill animations are repeated over and over, and none of the NPC's do anything but stand there. At least World of Warcraft has "idle" animations where your character will look around. We just blink.

If Square-Enix has to conform to this, good.

Unique doesn't always mean good in the MMO world. They tried to be "unique" with their Fatigue system... look how far that got them XD.

Yes it does, this is why there's more MMOs than UO and AO out on the market, by being unique. They implemented Fatigue to try to combat RMT more than anything, this is well known because plenty of Korean MMOs were also implementing a "limiting" type system at the time for the same exact reason.

It has to be a great mix of standard and unique, obviously the proper balance and what those exact things are is going to vary from person to person.

But that's why we are all here to speak our mind on what we think would make 2.0 go above and beyond the MMO standard and become something great.

I agree there needs to be a mix between Unique and Standard, Balance is the key to everything, even conflicting arguments have to reach a medium.

i agree and i think this thread shows that the animations have to stay.
i havent heard a single person say they hated the polish animations and their happy there gone for the sake of visuals
i've heard people say if they had to choose between gameplay and animations that gameplay wins, ive heard that they can live with cutting these animations for the sake of gameplay but since animations doesnt actually affect gameplay, i think its safe to say everyone wants them back

if there is anyone here who can honestly say they want the animations to stay cut from the game even knowing that it DOES NOT, at all, 0% affect the gameplay/ reaction time/ casting time/ action time/ movement time or anything else, then i think i can confirm that that person likes crappy games
none of us want this game to be crappy, visually, aesthetically, technically, or in any way.

so SE make the right decision, we stuck with you through thick and thin, we all want you to succeed, you said you would need the communities feedback if you were to make this rebirth possible, we're giving you the feedback, listen to your fans, dont let us down

Really? I watched videos of GW2 running and ARR running for comparison and to be honest they look practically the same. There's a slight half-step to stop on both, though both are so fast sometimes you won't even see it. Both start up quite quickly, running wise. Hard to say GW2 is so amazing in that dept when ARR looks quite similar.
